Default What the heck model is this

I just bought a Savage model 114 Classic Series in 300wm.

It has iron sights and Monte Carlo stock like the 114 Euro Classic but has a hinged floorplate like the 114 Classic instead of a detachable box magazine like the 114 Euro Classic.

The 114 Classic has a hinged floorplate and Monte Carlo stock but does not have iron sights like the 114 Euro Classic?????

So I have a Savage 114 Classic "series" 300wm with iron sights like the 114 Euro Classic but with a hinged floorplate like the 114 Classic???????

lol, maybe so but it is a purty muttI did some reading in one of their promotional magazines and seen where the 114 Euro Classic is not offered in 300 wm so I am assuming since the 114 Classic is offered in 300 wm I have a 114 Classic with open sights aka iron sights.

who cares, you got a Savage and saved enough cash to get more ammo. Now go have a blast (pun intended). Congrats. I'm sure it will shoot good for you.

Sounds like you got a standard 114 Classic with open sights, probably an option or they come with them and it's just not listed. Most sporter rifles come with open sights even though they are drilled and tapped for a scope. Usually the varmint, target and tactical models come with no sights on them because they figure you will just put a scope on it anyway.

Next time I go to the gun store I will see if they carry the classic series and check if they come with open sights or not.

My weather warrior (16FS) didn't come with open sights, which I find odd now that I think about it.

Your exactly right. It's just one of those things that is bugging me that I am not sure exactly which model I got. Really doesn't matter because I really like the looks of the gun and the only time I dry fired it the accu-trigger feels likeit is set at about 2 - 2.5 pounds. The trigger is very nice. Just hope it shoots as good as it looks.

I called Savage and gave them the serial # and they say it is an American Classic with modifications from the factory requested by the retailer, aka Cabela's.
