For me it would be
Hornady
Winchester
Federal
Black Hills
Remington
Wolf
I don't have experience with the others really. I think Peters is made by Remignton though isn't it? I might be thinking of something else though.
For rimfires I would go in this order.
Winchester
CCI
Federal
RWS
remington.
For shotgun it would be
Winchester
Federal
Brenneke
Remington
Fiocchi
In case you haven't noticed there is a trend there. I tend to have really good luck with Winchester ammo and don't much care for remington. When I test ammo remington will usually be towards the bottom of my list.

My favorites:
Rifle- Weatherby, Hornady, Remington, Winchester
Handgun- CorBon, Magtech, Winchester, Remington
Shotgun- Remington Heavy Dove, Remington STS, Win AA
All in that order. Cost is a factor in shotgun ammo due to volume.

I've always tested a gun/barrel with many different brands to find out which shot which best, and in my .300mag it shot cheapo remington better than fancy fed premium.
My .270 also loves cheap federal 130gr.
All I can say is find the grain bullet you want to shoot and test a variety in that weight. don't ocmpar feder 140's to remington 130s......

I'm kind of spoiled. My Remington 700XCR shoots clover leaves with the $11.00 a box Federal 'Power Shock' ammo in .30-06. I don't need to try anything else and it performs great on whitetails.
