Default ithaca 37 shotgun

Just look'n for some input, pros & cons...I already have one but I'm wondering if its worth putting a rifled barrel (hastings) & scope on it or if I should just get a new gun???
Oh yeah gun will be used strictly for deer (shotgun only area)

i have a m37 and i love it!! bought it usedwith a 24" smooth and a deerslayer smooth barrel. im gettin 1"groups with federal truball rifled slugs at 50yrds. then i found a brand new barrel w/turkeychoke and fiberoptic sitesat a local gun shop for $80.00 so i bought it. if i had the chance it get a rifled barrel for it i probably would!!but all barrels dont fit! ithaca made some changes thru out the yearsso take your gun in and make sure it fits before u buy it!!!go in there web site and checkout the prices on a new ithaca!!!

You will get several different opinions on this one and IMO the Ithaca 37 is a great gun.

Now the questions, Do you already have one and just need a barrel? Or are you looking for one?

If you just need a barrel the check the Hastings or the Ithaca web site. just make sure the serial # is above 855000. If the gun is above this number then you will have no problem. If the gun is below the number then you will need to have the barrel fitted to the gun.

If you are looking for a gun and run across a Deerslayer or one of the Guide series guns then buy it. Or check out the Ithaca gun web site for the new Deerslayer models. And from what I hear the Ohio made Ithacas are NICE.

IMO you can't go wrong with a Model 37.
