RE: Single shot rifles

Right now I have two #1B's and two Handi rifles. The Handi's are getting dusty...

I'm thinking of getting a single shot for my next rifle any suggestions out there as to where to start looking?
Would one of these be in the picture?:

There seem to be a few folks who are pretty high on 'em.

HEAD0001- that looks like a sweet Encore setup. What cal and how's it shoot? Thanks, Brett

The barrel isfull bull contour made by MGM. It is 28 inches in length, and ported. The cartridge is 6.5X284. It shoots very well.Tom.

I have a buffalo classic and it is a great rifle! It will do its job if I do mine.Get some tang sights and you can shoot out to 200 yards with no problem.

I've owned two handi rifles in the past, the 223 was a bull barrel and shot 45 grainers in 5/8 inch three shot groups at 100 yards, the other was a 243 with a light barrel and synthetic stock it was capable of 1 inch or less groups at 100 yards, they aren't expensive but the ones I've owned shot good.you can get them in a bunch of calibers and stocks and barrels.good luck.

I would vote for the CVA Optima "Elite". You will have a wide selection for just about any application you would like. Anywhere from 12 gauge to 222 all the way up to 300 win mag, or 45-70. Barrels for the gun run around $200. Best of all, the barrels for all Elites are Bergara barrels. The gun itself can be picked up with the calibre you desire for around $350, and (in my opinion) shoot just as well as the expensive TC's.

If I had the money for one of the inexpensive single shots, but not enough for a Ruger #1, I wouldn't buy anything.I'd save up for the #1 or an 1885, or a Sharp's. None of them are what I would consider to be 'stupidly overpriced'. I think the extra$$$ onany of those is well worth it.
