Has any one used the new SP ,heavy contour,cantilevered scope mount,rifled slug bbl from Remington ? I read in a review that they were poorly made. I am going to go to a rifled bbl. from a smooth bore and want to get input on whats up . Is the heavy bbl. from Hastings any good or Badger? I will be installing it on a newer 870 mag.. I e-mailed Hastings for the dimensions of there heavy bbl. ,but its been a week and no response.

I'm not sure what a new SP heavy contoured barrel is but;
Last fall I purchased a Remington 870Super Magcombo from Gander Mountain. Package included a 28” smooth bore barrel and a 23” rifled barrel with a cantilever scope mount. I mounted a Nikon Pro-Staff 2-7x 32mm shotgun scope on the slug barrel. I have been extremely happy with the whole package including thescope. Slug barrel is very accurate. I shot this 200 pound doe right through the heart at 110 yards with a Hornady SST. See attached photo.

Its called the super slug bbl., I think and it is a23" bbl..That is a big Doe, nice job . My 1100 that I mostly use is just not making it in the range dept. , I like the auto , but that smooth bore don't make it at the 100 yd. range . I tried a bunch of diff. ammo this year ,even the True Ball was all over the place @ 100. I like the heavy bbl.s and wish some one would make one for the 1100 , butI have the 870 mag. and its like new and since Rem makes that super slug bbl. I thought I would get one and give it a try . I read that one review ( only one I found ) and it did not give it a good one , rifling bad and sharp edges on the scope mount ( thats easy enough to fix ) its the one about the rifling that I don't like to hear.At 50 yds. no problem. Iwounded a doe @ about 90 yds and that did not sit well with me ( had to pay 50 bucksto camp for the wounding & that didn't sit well ether)
