25 WSSM is SMOK'N!

Ridge Runner,
According to the information I can find, the SAAMI max operating pressure spec for .25-06 is 63Kpsi also.
The only thing I can think of is that the velocity "data" used in the ad hype for the .25WSSM vs. the .25-06, and the claim of it's ability of the former to equal the latter, is that they knee-capped the .25-06 by shooting it in a shorter than optimum or typical barrel (22" or less) and shot the .25WSSM in a somewhat longer than typical barrel (24"+). That would easily account for the inability of the .25-06 to beat out the .25WSSM. But the truth is that most (but not all) manufacturers offer the .25-06 with a 24" barrel to take advantage of the larger case capacity and current slower burning powders, while the .25WSSM is usually offered in compact ultra-lite short barreled rifles.
The .25-06 is faster than the .25WSSM by a significant margin. I'd challenge anyone to show chronograph data from two rifles with equal length barrels and identical bullets and near MAX loads that shows the .25WSSM coming even within 100fps of the .25-06.

One of the guys i work with has a 25 WSSM and its not that great of a gun. He was braggin about how nothing shoots flatter thenit and this and how its the best deer and bear rifle they make for long range shooting. I took him and a few other guys out and i brought my 300 WSM out and shut him up real quick. At 500 yards my 300 with 180gr rounds had over 13in less drop then his 25 and was alot more accurate. We had 4 different peopel shoot both of the guns so he couldnt say it was because of his inability to shoot which we also proves since my 300 shoots 1-1.25in groups and he couldnt keep it below 5in and my 204 Rugershoots Sub-MOA and he could only get 4in groups out of it at 100 yards.

While I stress that I am not saying the 25 WSSM is the best round ever, I wanted to post a pic of a 125 sow I shot tonight. Again, 1 shot to the shoulder and she was down for the count. While each gun with different bullet loads will shoot different than others, I have really good accuracy out to 300 yards and so far it has done a great job. I actually shot a second boar hog also ( 50lbs) and it to went straight down. I'm just impressed with everything I have shot with this small caliber!

Im not saying its not a good round but looking at the ballistics the ammo manufacturers give you is way off. I think it would be a good deer round out to 200 mabee even 300 yards with the right bullet selection. Its just the ammo manufacturers say it should have 6in less drom then my 300 WSM at 500 yards but has 13in more drop.

Well I never go by them #'s anyway. You can take two identical rifles, same brand, cal, etc. Shoot the same ammo and 1 will shoot better ballistics, accuracy, and distance than the other. I always try to find what bullets each of my gun likes to eat and sight it in for the distance I think I ought to be able to shoot it. Which in some cases, has a different "zero" than whats on them boxes. The 300 should be a great round as well! I am just suprised to have the results on the game that I have taken with this little round!

I'm not sure how you can even compare a 25wssm to a 300wsm?
Since I've owned both the cartridges you are talkin about, I know for a fact that a 25WSSM will take a deer at 429 yards with a complete pass thru shot.
