Hey Guys-Need to purchase some ammunition for
my new Marlin 45-70 guide gun and am looking for
any results you all might have on deer knockdown
power and especially the accuracy results anyone
might have with it.This is my first 45-70 and just
dont want something that wont kick my shoulder
off.Thanks for any help you can give. Mike

Hornady LEVERevolution. Flatter shooting than anything else out there that I know of. It has the little flexible polymer tip so you can load the pointed bullets in your tube magazine without setting off the round in front of it

Firtst, I don't think you can go wrong with any orthodox 45 70 load. The factory rounds are cupcakes in the Marlin. Some rifles do a little better with certain weights. Mine favored 405 grainers. The Hornady round is getting a lot of use, it also has 3k muzzle energy if I am looking at the ballistics right.

If recoil is an issue, consider something like the 300 Grain Remingtons. The animal won't survive it at 45 70 ranges.

Yep, Hornady LE ammo in 45-70, 325gr. Very accurate and won't break the bank. That what I used today for whitetails out of 1895G. No deer yet.

I use three differant loads depending on my hunt. I like the winchester supreme in 300 grain partitian gold ( woods), Honadry Leverevolution (more open areas), and Buffalo Bore 350 grain for big/tuff game. All three ar accurate and hard hitting.

hunt thick woods and river bottoms and shots
are usually at 50 or 60 yards.Has any one here
ever shot the Super-X 300 grain 45-70 and how did they shoot for you and how did they perform
