Have both of those & like yall say either would work & the .270 works fine for elk etc also.(i wouldnt be popin them at 500 yrs whatever i use, including them calibers & hoping theres enough energy left)
Not exotic calibers & been around awhile , ammo is easy to find & cheaper.
I do like fat some to 45/70 etc( id use that in africa etc i think) poor mans big bore.

I have both, but used a .270 extensively for three years in Alaska with 150-grain Nosler Partition bullets. Although I made a point of carrying a .375 H&H when actively hunting Brown/Grizzly Bears, for some reason, I always seemed to be carrying the .270 when I came across the larger animals. The .270 worked every time for me, with the max number of shots ever needed = 2!! The largest animal I ever saw killed with a .270 was a relatively large Polar Bear (this in the days before the Endangered Species Act) that was taken by a doctor' s wife from Fairbanks!! But then, Eleanor O' Connor killed her elephant with a .30/' 06!! " Any gun good, shoot ' um good!!"

they are close.
