RE: Remington 700 SPS vs XCR - please help!
Someone asked how the 270wsm was better than the 338 or 300wm or some other bigger guns.....It is better because it does it more efficiently with a short action and less powder. The .270 WSM consistently out performs just about every caliber there is besides the .375H" Yes the 270wsm is a decent elk cartridge, but it certainly doesn't "outperform just about every other cartridge" according to many peoples standards.By the way,the 270wsm is not a caliber, rather it is a cartridge. |
RE: Remington 700 SPS vs XCR - please help!
Stubblejumper, cartridges have been argued over campfires and deer camp tables way before these forums ever existed and they will after our bones are dry.
She asked about a couple calibers and a couple different Remingtons. I think the point was she might want to consider the .270wsm. You seem to think it isn't all that great when compared to bigger calibers...then you compare it to the 7mm-08....Hummmmm Lost me on that one. "outperforms" is the word you stuck on....Now we all know there are many ways to measure "performance" but the only way to narrow it down to a generic level is to look at it's efficiency and efficacy on game. We at least were comparing apples to apples in the magnums. Then you go to the small case gun. I think you just want argue and that is what makes us all freethinkers....however, in this particular thread it is doing this lady no good at all. Don't mean to offend, but take it easy. Besides, we are all "experts" on here.....right;) All that said, do you think she should work with her husband to get the XCR or SPS in .270 or the good ol' 30-06??? Friends, Dave |

RE: Remington 700 SPS vs XCR - please help!
I personally would buy the sps and put the extra money into a mcmillan stock.

RE: Remington 700 SPS vs XCR - please help!
Now that is some great advice...I never thought of that.
Do you use those? What do you like about them Stubblejumper? Besides they are good quality manufacture, is there something about them that stands out ie: recoil reduction, feel, look, ???? I appreciate your input. I was always a woodstock man. I have a couple black guns but w/factory stocks. I did pillar one of those w/a kit from brownells. Thanks in advance for your input. Dave |
RE: Remington 700 SPS vs XCR - please help!
I have mcmillans on all of my hunting rifles. They are not only extremely stable in all conditions, but they seem to reduce felt recoil over most other stocks that I have tried. They also don't flex like most factory synthetic stocks.Lastly they are available in a variety of styles to fit everyones needs.
