I have the XCR in 300WSM and love it. But you can definately get away with the sps. I bought mine for a hunt that never happened so sometimes I wish Id bought he sps for half the money. But on the other hand when I do go I will be all set.

Where were you planning on going? Was it an elk hunt?

IMO, a WSM makes a fine cartridge for a pronghorn hunt, not too much power, not too little for pronghorns.

You obviously have never been antelope hunting. They are TINY, I shot one with my 7mag last year, and it was too much gun. Pert near blew that thing in half. ;)
