Buckmarks are great, I owned one and loved it. Another good choice in my opinion is the Ruger Single Six. Great little guns and they come with a .22 mag cylinder as well so you can shoot both if you want.
I had one and it was pretty accurate, also just a simple straight forward design which is nice for hunting.

I've been looking at the Ruger super single 6 shooter in stainless for my plinkin/coon hunting pistol. Heard alot of good about them in reliability and accuracy. one of my buddies dropped his in a mud hole and just washed it off in a slightly less muddy mud hole and it performed flawlessly. I'm also a big fan of the Ruger semi-auto .22lr pistols. very accurate and reliable. never used a buckmark though

what's a good 22 hand gun for hunting. I was thinking about getting a Taurus 22 tracker with a 6 inch barrel w/ open sights.
And a Ruger govt target model Blue 22 long rifle
I have taken many squirrels with both of them.

Me too, I wonder if we will ever see one in a .17 mach 2?? I think it could be a use full little squirell "sniper pistol" then with the longer range and flat shooting .17. and when a will they sell one in a mossy oak or atleast od or matt black for hunting, squirells can see that shinny stainless steel really easy ya know!

The choices you were given are excellent provided you can use a semi auto for hunting in your area. Another recommendation being that this is a 'huntin' handgun is the T/C contender or Encore. Both are single shot and are chambered for the .22 lr as well as the .17s and 22 wmr. And later, for the price of a barrel you can switch out to a centerfire chambering for bigger game.
