Default RE: managed recoil ammo

My 11 year old son bought his first gun a few months ago. I picked up a box of the recoil loads for him to shoot. After sighting in his .270 with regular shells. I shot the recoils. I found no difference at 100 yards. Most of our shots a less than 100 yards. My son has no trouble shhoting them.

Thanks. I'm gonna give it a try.

Put a recoil pad on the gun and shot regular loads. My 7mm Rem Mag with a "Hi-Viz" recoil pad kicks less the a 243 (felt recoil, that is.) I was suprised when i first pulled the trigger and the gun was quite nice to me. increadiable considering that i was loaded up with 70 gr of RE22. This is my suggestion.

Another thingI saw in another thread, but dont know what to think about is; Let him shot the managed recoil stuff for practice and firearm familirization, then just remember where the 'real' stuff hits and plan accordingly. Then on hunt day, swap the loads out. He wont notice the recoil when squeezing of on a deer! just my sugg's

I believe the manage recoil round is a great idea for the new or youth shooter. Reduced recoil also reduces flinching for those new to shooting. A hand me down high power rifle can be adjust by load rather than to purchase a new rifle in a lesser caliber.

For many years, handloaders have built loads to match their hunting need. These managed recoil loads are just a factory reduced load for a standard caliber. Most high powered rifles have several times more power than needed for deer so take it easy on young shoulders and smart shoulders and ues them when the fill the need.
