Default Marlin Model 336W .30-30 Win

I just bought this gun yesterday at Wal-Mart for $320 with tax. Is this a good gun?

Should be a fine hunter. Deer have been falling to it forever. Enjoy.

It is kind of silly to ask the question after the purchase, but yes, you have a quality firearm that should give you, your kids, your grandkid, your great grandkids, etc. years of happy hunting. I have a 1983 model 336T that is my "go to" gun of choice. You might want to try the new Hornady LeverEvolution ammo in your new gun. Good luck.

I have the 336 that was handed down to me and it is a great rifle. When all else fails, like if I just dont have the time to check the sites on a gun then the ole turty turty comes out. Its is a great gun to take with you when you get a load of firewood during hunting season and takes a beating like no other.

I have this gun with a bushnell 1.5x4.5 scope and I think it is the perfect gun for deer. It is very reliable, accurate and will put the biggest deer down with ease. There are many who knock the 30-30 However after shooting it for 3 years now I take it on my MN deer hunts and leave the .270 home.

Did you sneak into my house and steal my gun!? That is the exact same set-up that I have and it works very well for out to 125-150 yards. I am even more suspicious that you stole mine as I am from MN as well!

I have a safe full of rifles, but I still have the .30-30 around! Marlin and Winchester.

I'm not trying to "hi-jack" your thread or start a debate, so Rebel Hog, PM me with your opinion of which one you like better.

I love my 30-30!

dway... you will instantly fall in love with the 30-30 (if you haven't already). There is just something about them. There's like an "old school" historical vibe or something. They have been faithfuland dependable firearms for well over 100 years. [8D]

I have the 30AS model (which is like a base model 336) and love it dearly.
