you sure do talk alot of junk about everything that you do not like, especially the 710. do you actually know what you are talking about or are you just another opinionated sportsman with too much pc time on their hands?

not trying to be "smart" with you chantecler, but do you mean 3 to 4 inches or three-quarters of an inch. something i will do this week during thanksgiving break is to see if i can get under the mark. it's something to do at least.[8D]

No i am not offended. You are entitled to your opinion. Once I get my 30-30 a scope and sighted i am sure that will be my primary rifle. Im glad to hear a debate about this gun. Very interesting.

3 quarters of an inch, and BTW, Hey, you are just getting offended because I have spoken against your favorite deer rifle.

Why don't you read my posts, I said i have sighted in many 710's for people and haven't ever been impressed with any of them, and you can say what you want, after all, you bought a 710, which just shows how little you know about firearms.

Here you go. This is a group I got from my 710 using Federal Premium 150gr Sierra GameKing BTSP ammo. The other holes at the top of the paper are from using other ammo (Remington Core-lokt and Managed Recoil). The reason this group is not centered is because I was running out of daylight and didn't have time to reshoot after tweaking the scope the final time. (I wanted it to shoot a tad high @ 100 yards, so I just dialed it over a few clicks to the right.)
So, what's your estimate of this group? They're all within a 1 square inch block on the target @ 100 yards. In a practical, real-world hunting situation, what difference will a 3/4" rifle make over my 710? None, nada, zip. Since something like 75%+ of all deer are shot at less than 100 yards in the Eastern and Southern US, then a Savage that shoots 1/4" better groups than my 710 is a negligible difference.
I've got an idea. Maybe someone should print up some of those stickers that the "sophisticated" truck owners have. You know, the ones with the little brat peeing on the Ford/Chevy/Dodge symbol. You can just replace it with a 710.
Hurrah for elgallo for being a voice of reason in all this. As he said, I got what I paid for and it's just fine. Strangely, noone ever says WHY the Savage is "so much better", only that it is. If it's only based on the accuracy, then there's no practical difference. Go with what you like.

No offense, but my 10 year old nephew can shoot better than that.
The reason Savage is better because of the design, look at the barrel on the 710, it isn't screwed in, its freaking crammed into the receiver by a machine, and also the trigger guard, its part of the stock!!!!, the trigger guard ona Savage is a separate piece, want me to go on?

The barrel is hydraulically pressed into the receiver. So? I'll never shoot any rifle enough that I need to replace the barrel. There are higher quality European rifles that use this same technique.
The trigger guard is molded into the stock. So? Never heard of this being a big deal until the nit-pickers had to find something to not like about it.
Compared to the group in the center, what practical difference is there to a group that puts 5 shots touching each other?
