need info on best caliber for deer hunting with oncore pistol? 708 caliber?

The Encore has so many good choices. The 7MM-08 and 308 are a couple of the best choices. However the 30-30 is also a good one. Going to a bigger case won't really help much in the short barrel and a 308 would probably give better performance than the 30-06. I quess for all around use, the 7MM-08 would be hard to beat. I am going to get a new G2 in 30-30.

hey sonic welcome to the forum, i have an encore in 7mm-08 15" barrel and a fixed 4X leoupold scope, love the gun but wish i had bought a different scope for hunting, i believe a lower powered varible would have been a better choice or a fixed 2X, at the range the 4X is fine but it takes some getting used to in the woods, BTW i had a 30-30 contender with a 14" barrel, it was also a great gun, my dad still keeps it in his truck for coyote medicine

I have a Savage Super Striker in 7mm-08,I would say it is just about perfect for medium sized game.I have it scoped with a 2x7 Burris and that also seems about perfect for my applications.
