Would like opinions on the Boresnake rifle cleaner. are they hard on the rifleing ( with the copper wire inside ) also are they good for removeing copper fouling from your barrel. Thanks

Stevie I think they are the neatest thing since sliced bread or taterchips ina bag!
I have one for each caliber/gauge gun I own. When I remove a gun from the safe and put it in a case for a hunt/shoot I grab the appropriate boresnake from the top of the safe. I run it through the bore before and after each hunt/trip out. I don't put anything on the snake as well, I just like for it to clean the bore and remove any crap without putting anything in it that would need a rod and a patch to remove.
You can carry them in your backpack alot easier than a cleaning kit as well when going out for awhile!

I also have a boresnake for every caliber and use them all the time at the range between loads. I also don’t use anything on them when cleaning the barrels and find them very handy...

I agree... I discovered the Bore Snake from a friend, and went out and got one for my shotgun, rifle and my handgun. They are the neatest thing I have ever seen! I just put a dab of bore cleaner on the bristles section of the bore snake, that's all. Theydo a fantastic job with one pull!

I use them all the time. I have them for rifle and shotgun. I just need to get the one for .17 caliber for my savage 17hmr. I now see why so many of the different armys of yesteryear used the pull through type cleaning devices.

I have to say ditto on all these comments. They are awesome for non-bolt action cleaning also since you cant get a rod through the back. I only use the snakes except for once a year I hit the gun with that foam cleaner and use a rod and brush to get out fouling of the guns I shoot the most.

The bore snake's brush is softer than the steel in your barrel. Most of us use a phosphor bronze brush with no qualms. The snakes cut dowm on labor.
But you should also use a good copper solvent I am using Por-shot Copper solvent IV now and it seems to be good. Hoppes makes a good solvent too.
