its an older standard mini-14 with a 180 serial. at one point i did have a bushnell sportsman 4-12x40mm on it but at 100 yards theres really no difference in the grouping compared to what i do with a red dot. whats the rifling in the new ranch rifles? mine has a 1 in 9 twist which is pretty much standard though i have read about some with a 1 in 8 twist and some were actually made in .222 with a 1 in 12 twist.
