Nickname your rifle?
#3
I have a 12 ga. named Boomer (go figure I named it when I was 14)
I have a .308 named Lucky which has killed more deer than I can remember. It's like a deer magnet.
I have a 30-30 named Tradition which was the rifle my father used to kill his first deer, I used to kill my first deer and my son will use to kill his first deer.
I am purchasing a new 30-06 which I plan to name Excalibur. [>:]
I think naming your firearms gives them character and adds a sence of presence when using them. Plus it's just fun.
"This is my rifle there are many like it but this one is mine. With out me my rifle is nothing. Without my rifle I am nothing."

Yea, I call my 7mm-08's, 308's and 270's deer rifles. The real accurate ones, I call long range deer rifles. My 7mmSTW's and old 300RUM's, I call my big game rifles or moose/elk guns. My 3.5" shotgun 12ga will be called my goose gun. My 204ruger and 22LR are called varmit guns. It goes on and on.

I haven't named all my guns, I guess only two of my biggest/most powerful.
For my Sako/Lazzeroni Warbird it has always been called: THUNDERSTRUCK
The only other gun I reckon I have "named" is my turkey gun (Mossberg 835UM Rhino tubes/Nitro Hevi-Shot, TruGlo red dot): HAMMER OF THOR
I do have a new ParaOrdiance LDA Black Watch SSP .45 that I am considering nicknaming: THE NEGOTIATOR
Must be a guy thing, we nickname all our "toys". My boats nickname is "Rainy Day Woman" after Waylons song. My Harley's nameis "Statesboro Blues" after the Allman Brothers song (it's two toned blue and usually rockin too the blues anyway). A "term of endearment" that I actually DO refer too my wife as (honestly, you just gotta know when the time is appropriate!) is "Ol heifer"...
Hmmmmm I'm beginning to see where my priorities are!
