Take a look here: www.bellmtcs.comMike has tons of good info on the TC products and a GREAT "how to" pictoral on doing a trigger job on your encore. I used a #3 trigger spring, heavy hammer spring andabout an hours worth of time and was rewarded with a sweet trigger. I also used the.01 oversized frame pin which was a sung friction fit. Now my .308 puts 168g Black Hills into 3/4" at 100 yards-after some stock reshaping (to my tastes)I couldnt be happier! Good luck with your 7mm!

hay super i will attest as well the encore is a great way to go. i did have a 7 mag but found that my 708 savage would shoot far better and i didn't feel like a was getting that much more out of the 7 mag so i went with the 300 mag .ya know heaver bullets and the 300 mag is more accurate than my 7mag was .one thing i want you to check is make shore the head space is rite ,TC had a problem with their mags .and if you ever want to make a pistol out of it buy it a pistol ,in some states if you buy it as a rifle it has to stay a rifle.

cataway...can you "make" it into a pistol? Please excuse my ignorance, but I would love to hear more on that. Is it just a pistol barrel/forearm with a pistol grip...same action??
So it could actually be changed back and forth..right?
If this is true that would be AWESOME!! Ive always wanted a TC handgun, but needed a rifle worse.
Thanks!

I believe TC solved the pistol/rifle thing long ago, all of their receivers are legal to have pistol length barrels installed with pistol grips, the thing you have to avoid is putting a rifle stock on with the pistol length barrel, thats a "short barrel rifle" or "SBR" and is a class 2 weapon. I dont know of any state statues that restrict how the rifle was configured at the point of first sale since all TC Contenders/Encores are registered as pistol frames. Kinda grey I know, but I think the ATF has other things to chase down. Now if they were all black and had bayonettes.....
Anyway, its a great system to play with, I just wish the barrels were cheaper! Good luck-pbgunrunner

check out the above mentioned website (bellmtc) go to the forum and read up on the info. on converting from a pistol/rifle etc. there's letter's from the ATF on this subject with respect to the encore. You'll have to make your own opinion on the matter. I'm not a lawyer. Interesting stuff however.

OK, I got a nice year end bonus so now I am ready to pay it off. I went by the shop to do so and he says he dont know when he will be able to get his hands on a 7mag barrel in stainless since it is hunting season. He has a .300 in stainlessthough...what do yall think? Go .300 or wait on lucky 7?

The Encore is a great gun but their factory rifle barrels leave big room for improvement.I had .243 and.300 mag barrels for mine that I was very disappointed with. Both barrels had trouble staying under2" groups. The throats were so deep thatI had trouble getting the bullets anywherenear the rifling when I reloaded.I ended up ordering a Bullberry 6mm Improved and the group size is now .400". For the money your going to spend on a factory barrel, I'd throw in a few more bucks and get a Bullberry or Match Grade barrel. Both companies have a big selection of caliburs and barrel lengths also. Good Luck.

i have several berrels for my encore inclueding .243, 25-06, .270, 7mm-08 these are only a few of the barrels i currently own with hand loads i have no trouble keeping groups under .5 for three shots .75 for five on all but the 7mm-08 havent had a chance to load for it yet but it will keep inside 1.25 with cheap factory stuff just to get brass from dont have any experience with the .300 but i did have a 7mm mag it shot between .5 and.75 for three got in a bad spot had to sell it wish i hadnt, had the trigger done, set at 8 ounces would love to gotten a chance to see what the 7mm mag would do with this trigger think you will be well pleased with your choice either way also had 18.5" 45-70 it did shoot around 2.5" at 100 yards the 24" i have will get about 1.75 at 100 i think this is very good out of this setup however the recoil from the 24 with a farily hot load is a little rough
