Default Savage Side by sides

I have wanted a side by side for like 10 years or better. I was at gander mountain looking at the savage SxS. They look pretty good and sale for around 300-350. I was wondering how they shot if anyone knew.

The new ones( 411 ) arent that great, but the old 311's are wonderful guns.

i started out with a side by side when i was a kid back in the 60's. man i sure stopped a lot of bunnies with that gun. the only bad thing that i can remember thinking about that old gun was it's weight. it was like carrying two guns all day long.

i will look for a 311 or a stoger, and the new side-sides are pretty light being synthetic stocks and mixed metals. I just need to decide on a barrel length. I want to use it mostly for birds/rabits/limbrats. They come in many lengths from 20-32" only saw one at 32" that is a LONG s.o.b.

I also am thinking about a cheap SXS but I don't want a russian made gun. Others have recomended the Savage 311. I think I have decided on 28" barrels which would be a good compromise for rabbits and dove.
JC higgins made a nice SXS whcih was a savage I believe and looks like a 311. I am hoping to pick up one or the other for around 250 or 300

Side X sides are high priced and highly wanted.....but not at the high prices. Sadly you pretty much get what you pay and the Russian guns are no exception.
