I have a Savage model 12 fv .204 with the varmint barrel, I put a Smith-Wesson 6x24 target scope and it will shoot 1 ragged hole at a 100.

Simmons Aetec Or Swift Premiere. On a 223 the Bushnell Trophy should work very well too. Wearver bases and rings will hold up forever or longer on a Savage 223. I had Weaver rings on my 416 Rem Mag for years without a seconds problem.

I mentioned in another forum that Bass Pro Shops have Simmons 3-10x44 44 Mag Scopes on sale for $80, which is a pretty nice scope at a pretty good price. (Lifetime warranty, too.) Closeout deals are out there...

I'd get a Leupold scope.

I havethree Leupolds and three Aetecs. The Leupolds will not out shoot my Simmons Aetecs. I can now buy about eight Aetecs for what the three Leupolds cost me. Now that I have expierenced the Aetecs performance I won't be buying and more Leups. Unless the bring their price down to where the other imported parts scopes sell for.

I might suggest watching www.natchezss.com They sent out a email of Reburbished scope at a reasonable price just the other day.Watch Ebay for a used Leupold. You cansend it to the factory and have it gone through.
