nice job on the logo, looks great! Welcome Joe, good luck this season, and welcome to the best team in the country.
|
RE: Official Team Braggin Bucks (23) Thread
Hey guys,
Thanks for the props on the logo. Welcome jerseyjoe! I think we got our team all checked in. IL bow season doesn't start until Oct. 1st...taking that day off from work. Good to hear from you all! |
RE: Official Team Braggin Bucks (23) Thread
Been reading a few other threads and we are not getting any respect. They are not saying anything bad about us, but nobody thinks we'll do any good either. We are not picked in the top 5.
That is fine by me. Let's walk softly and carry a big rack in for scoring. Let's get 'em!!! LLBUX |
RE: Official Team 23 Thread
what thread do they have rankings in? It doesn't much matter, just call it a huge upset when we win :D
|
RE: Official Team Braggin Bucks (23) Thread
It's titled "who will be the top 5 teams"
It is on this board. Good luck! |
RE: Official Team Braggin Bucks (23) Thread
I was just wondering how many days you guys hunt? I spent about 35 days on stand last year. I will have a lot more time this year because of a cutback in working hours. I passed on a lot of small and medium bucks last year, and ended up taking a deformed racked buck out of the genepool. Good luck to everyone and lets GIT-R-DONE!!!
|
RE: Official Team Braggin Bucks (23) Thread
I hunt approx. 20 - 25 days here in AR, 7 days in South Dakota, and 3 - 5 days in Missouri.
Last year I killed a 132" 10 point in SD, a nice 8 pt with a 14" inside here in AR and a doe. Saw 2 bucks nicer than the 10 in SD, one here in AR, and 4 or 5 (1 could have been same deer not sure) in MO, but none offered a shot in bow range. GIT-R-DONE!!! |
RE: Official Team 23 Thread
Thanks LLBUX, somehow i missed that . I usually hunt anywhere from 30-35 days each season. Last year i took two doe in the early archery here in Pa. I connected on a decent buck the last day of late archery. He was an 8pnter, scored roughly around 105-110, not quite P&Y material but it was a good last chance buck. Saw two bucks that would have went P&Y but didn't give me very good shots, and passed on 14 dinks throughout the season. Last year was a great season as far as quality and quantity of deer, but this year is lookin even better ;)

RE: Official Team Braggin Bucks (23) Thread
I hunt around 30 days ... Its all good that we aren't picked for top 5... This thing is wide open... I think that it won't take very many deer to win this thing.. Most people in this contest won't harvest a deer for many reasons.. So I think the team with the most members with a deer will win or a team will have 2 or 3 huge bucks... With the way this team is talking we are onto alot of bucks.. So we should have a very high harvest rate... Just Have To Get Out There and GIT R DONE !!!!!!!!! oooooo did I mention my archery season in NC starts Saturday !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! yeeehhhawwww!!! Can't wait to get out there..... |
RE: Official Team Braggin Bucks (23) Thread
Good luck this weekend NC!! Shoot straight and bring home the big one. Make yourself and this team happy and GIT-R-DONE!
|
RE: Official Team Braggin Bucks (23) Thread
Good luck this weekend NC! Three weeks from tomorrow until the IL boys can get out in the woods...it'll feel like three months.
According to my hunter's log, I've been averaging about 33 days on stand over the last four years. |
RE: Official Team Braggin Bucks (23) Thread
Just wondering when everyone thinks the first score will be recorded for the contest, and our team?
I'll say our team will be October 10th, and the contest will be September 12th. |
RE: Official Team Braggin Bucks (23) Thread
I am going to try and bag that 170" buck before September-17th.:)
|
RE: Official Team Braggin Bucks (23) Thread
170 would be a GOOD start wolf... My NJ season opens the 11th. I can hunt up to Feb!!!! I get out 3-4 times a week in NJ and 5 days up in Maine. I need to concentrate on a good one now. Ususally just like to fill the freezer on a young buck.
|
RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
Good luck to everyone whose season starts tomorrow! Let us all know how it goes. GIT-R-DONE!!!
|
RE: Official Team Braggin Bucks (23) Thread
I know this does not count in our deer contest. I wanted to let you know I got a antelope doe today.:D I shot her at 20-yards. I got both lungs, she ran about 40-yards & fell over. I have two antelope tags left to fill. I am going elk hunting in the morning for a few days. That big 170-class buck is just going to have to wait.:D
Good luck to all, Wolf Killer |
RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
Congratulations Wolf Killer!! Good luck on your elk, that 170 isn't going anywhere. Make it a clean sweep.
|
RE: Official Team Braggin Bucks (23) Thread
Wolf Killer congrats on the antelope. I'm jealous i can't wait to get in the woods [:@]

RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
Had a couple shooters slip in on me tonight while I was watching a field on my Greene County, IL farm.
I was burrowed under a hedge tree and didn't catch them slipping in behind me up the creek. A 135-140" 8 pointer came out first and spotted me. The 10-11 point, 150 class buck behind him also came out. The 8 was about 12 yards and the bigger one at 20. Kinda nice to have the lock up like that and do the head-bob, trying to figure out what I was. They spooked when I reached for my camera. They stopped about 100 yards off and watched for a while. I got some video and pix to add to my collection. Would either of these be big enough for the team?;) Almost 3 weeks to wait!!! |
RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
Sounds like you are in a good spot. I think that they would do just fine. Good luck this season!
|
RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
LOL... you better hold off on them little guys and wait for a bigger one. Sounds like a great spot, its gunna be a long three weeks :( best of luck taggin one of those bruisers.

RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
I got a couple of bigger B&C bucks on tape 3 weeks ago along with 4 P&Y. They were all feeding in a nice little alfalfa field.
Realistically, the chance of me getting one of those is pretty small, but I will hold out for a good one. Just wanted to know if a 'little' 150" buck would meet the harvest specs of the our team. Good luck all! |
RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
Less than three weeks for the IL bow season to start. The summer has bee so mild, but as Oct. 1st approaches, the thermostat keeps rising. I know the heat will fade away eventually, but man it's been hot lately.
LLBUX, I was wondering if your county had the youth firearm hunt for Oct. 9th and 10th this year? Rarely, do I see deer that weekend here in Fulton County...but I still go out in the woods. Hard to kill a deer sleeping in. Congrats on the antelope doe, Wolf killer! My buddy and I have been talking about going Elk hunting out west within the next five years...will listen to any recommendations on some good outfitters. |
RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
I have a pic of a pretty nice buck, but can't get it to fit this site. Anyone help me?
|

|
RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
here is the pic from Woodline Bucks
|
RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
he's a nice buck :D
have you seen him before, have other pics. just wondering how many pts. he actually is, it's hard to tell in that pic. |
RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
that is the first pic I have of him. I zoomed on him and he is at least an 8, with brow tines he would be a 10. I have a non-typical on film in the same area with 6 points on his right side from half his ear out. I have been trying to find him again. I have a lot more pictures, a nice 8 and real nice 9. I also have a decent 8 and a huge fork that I hope make it through the next couple years.

RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
Here's a couple more from WB!
|
RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
thanks rack attack! I don't know how you did it but they look great! Now I just need to get you a picture of me and one of the big boys! Only 3 more weeks, seems like a year. Thanks again, and good luck!
|
RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
Thanks Rack Attack for posting my deer for me. ;)

RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
My brother-in-law is SW Iowa Hunter, and we hunt the same areas and stands. He shot a whale of a 10 pointer out of a stand that he didn't want to hunt last year. He went to the stand to try and talk me into traveling and hunting with him. I moved in this area this year and plan to put a nice one on the wall this fall. Good luck everyone!
|
RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
Woodline, its a shame your gunna shoot a bigger buck than your inlaw. :D Best of luck, those are some good lookin bucks.
|
RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
how do we get our logo to appear in every post?
|
RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
Hunter25- Greene County allows the youth shotgun season. I am unaware of anyone in the area hunting that weekend.
My farm is almost 800 acres and I plan to be out that weekend making an effort to kill a good one for the team. How much ground do you have in Fulton? Good luck all- LLBUX |
RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
Hey Y'all Those's are some nice looking bucks.. Spent saturday and this afternoon in the stand....lmao.. I didn't see anything but some alabama mosquitos... Big Uns...lmao... Its still kinda hot yet.. Hopefully some cooler weather will move in.. |
RE: Official Team "Braggin Bucks" (23) Thread
I mentioned earlier that there are two farms that I hunt. One is only 14 acres, but the other is close to 100. I actually hunt the 14 more than the 100. The 14 acre farm butts up to 500 acres of prime timber. Not for sure what I'd do if I had 800 acres to hunt...probably be second guessing my position on every hunt.
LLBUX, do you ever hunt near Siloam Springs State Park? It's about 15-20 miles east of Quincy. |
