I was out hunting Thurs night and had a doe come in and hang around for about 20 minute's ,I had sprayed some doe estrus around the food plot and on a stump in the area .When the doe got to the stump she proceded to lick the stump for a matter of 5 minute's .I couldn't understand why she would do this ,I spoke with another hunter later that evening and he told me that he had read that a doe will roll in a scrape that a doe had urinated on in order to get her estrus cycle started ,so I was just wondering if this is what this doe was doing .Does anyone else know anything about this behavior? Anyway's After the doe left I waited as long as I could see my pin's and then I climbed out of my stand to leave ,as I walked out I put a big buck up heading for the hill's .This is the second time that this has happened in 3 outing's .I'm going to put my Impact Archery Cosmic back on my bow because it hold's the light much longer than my Spott Hogg does ,maybe this will give me the extra 15 minute's that I need to get this buck in .What I've forgot to say was that the pin's on my Hogg sight are gone long before it get's dark and that when I come out to the bush it's still quite daylight out.
I went out Fri morning to the same area and seen absolutely nothing ,it was a waist of time .Since i'm hunting a food plot do you's think that i should hunt it at night only ? I've hunted this spot 4 time's now 3 night hunt's and 1 morning hunt ,all the night hunt's I've seen deer but nothing during the morn. What do you guy's think I should do hunt night or both night and morn.

John, personally if it was me I would use the food plots as an evening spot.To get there early in the morn and not spooking any deer in the plot would be next to impossible.Be there mid afternoon till dark and thats when its going to happen.I would use your stand in the bush by the corn field in the morn, especially if you can sneak in real early and get the deer as they slowly sneak out of the corn and into there bedding areas.

That's what I was thinking of doing ,I had to try the plot in the morning just to find out but i did think it was a bad idea about hunting in the morning .
Thank's \Jason

I've got to discuss it with the wife first ,but I'm thinking of getting a new Rascal and getting the conversion kit to go with it .The conversion kit consist's of another set of limb's so when the existing one's get too light you can bump them up to a heftier limb,so that the bow will last them for thier junior years. But I'll let you know for sure.

Well Steve glad to hear your still seeing some nice buck's ,I was thinking that I was the only one left here .It feel's as though I've been talking to myself since nobody else has been to visit this forum since you got your nice buck.Extreme1 has been my only visitor as of late .If you've been following my post's, I've been getting out a fair bit ,but have only had doe's and fawn's coming into visit. They've given me lot's of oppertunity to take, but since I only have one tag left I'll be holding out for a buck.I've seen some nice buck's just as I crawl out of my stand, since my Spott Hogg doesn't hold the light worth a damn and has me leaving my stand prematurely.last night I put my Cosmic on and it gave me another 25 minute's in the bush ,so hopefully I'll be there for the next buck that come's in late .I've been given it pretty hard and I'm sure something will happen before the season's end.I'm hoping for a big one, but as the season near's it's end, I might have to take what's offered.Anyway's I'll talk to you later and safe hunting.

I am getting a kick out of your posts. Always fun to see how others are doing on their hunting. Wish more people would post on their hunts. Goodluck on the rest of your year. Hope you get your buck.

NUBO...No you're not the only one. I haven't talked to anyone in a while but how are you all doing? Our Firearm season opened on November 15th so, I have been fairly busy with that. It ends on the last day of November (rgular season). I will try to post further tomorrow.
