John and Chuck,
It's great to meet you!
I've been thinking about our deer size issue. We can beat these guys from Ill., Wisconsin, Montana, etc.. with pure numbers. If all 10 of us take an 80" buck we'll probably have a shot. LOL:D
I'm definitely in this for the fun and the opportunity to meet some new people.
BUT, I like a challenge and a little competition now and then, Hee, Hee, Hee!;)
I don't know about you guys but I have 13 days, 4 hrs., 20 min. and 31 sec. until my butt will be planted in a treestand for 10+ hrs.
You can email me at [email protected]
I look forward to getting to know you all better.
If you guys like the logo you can put it in your profile. Copy and past address below. I condensed it a little let me know what you think

RE: Official Team 11 Thread

Sorry, it's been a few days...It looks like we're gaining a few team members.

I like the looks of Bowdaddy's logo. I say we go with that one. Also, I was wondering if someone knows how to get that logo at the bottom of my "posts".

I am 26 years old and have been bowhunting ever since I was twelve. My father started me early and all I ever do is thank him for doing so. I am married and have two wonderful little girls: a 4 mth old and a 3 yr old. We reside in a small town in Southwestern Lower Michigan called Mendon (that's about 30 mins from Kalamazoo and 30 mins from Battle Creek). I love being outside - preferably in a treestand. Deerhunting is probably the biggest thing in my life other than my family. I am also an avid fisherman (primarly walleye). I can't explain to you guys how much I look forward to bow season every year....well sort of, because hopefully most of you are in the same situation. I am very lucky as to having an abundance of property to hunt. My main property consists of a riverbottom that has a lot of swamp and then proceeds up a ridge to hardwoods (72 acres). There are multiple funnels between the two. The property within a square mile all gets hunted pretty hard. However, everyone surrounding participates in a management program where you're not suppose to shoot a buck unless it's an inch outside it's ears and it must have at least 4 or more points on one side. I have shot a buck with my bow every year since 1995 (since I was 16). I always hold out for a mature buck 3 1/2 or 4 1/2 year old until late season (December 1st -31st). At this point, I follow the management program that everyone goes by around me: 4 or more on one side and an inch outside the ears. I know it's not the best but in the last three years my uncle's shot one and I've shot two that have been right around 150. I don't think that's so bad.

Anyway, for everyone my personal email is [email protected]. I want to win this thing bad, so for the rest of you.....keep me updated on your progress and I will definitely do the same.

Sum, Good to meet you, I didn't catch your first name!
To put the pic in your posts you need to go to your profile (top of page) then go to the box that says signature.

cut and paste the [img] symbols above and put the address I have listed below in the middle of these two symbols.

Walleye? you say I love fishing for walleye ,my brother -in -law and I do lot's of walleye fishing every chance we get ,it's got to the point that I don't fish to many other species any more .I've been spoiled, what a great fish to eat. Rich I guess your logo is the one we're going with ,Thank's guy's for making this easy .I certainly appreciate the effort that "Stalker" made coming up with his logo as well and it would have been just perfect as well.
I've just gotten in from helping a new bowhunter set up his bow in the pouring rain, but now he's at least hitting the target LOL. I like to help other's get into this sport that we love, even if it cost's me a bit of money.
Guy's I'm feeling that this team is actually coming together and I'm sure we're going to appreciate Double Lung'and Rob Boyer's efforts to making this contest a lot of fun for all. It's also going to be great getting to know you's all on a somewhat personal level.
My 11 yr old daughter is going to try her hand at drawing our team logo on a cover for our team album .Remember to send me pic's and a short story on your kill's so that I can put in this album ,after the season's over I'll try to put it all together and send them to all of you's at no cost .This will be my contribution to our team.

Thank's guy's for all your efforts on making our team successful, it sure makes thing's easy for me.
Sumhunter! It's great to get know all of you's and to get to learn a little about your families as well and as it look's we all have children that are young and influensive and hopefully take up this sport with us .hopefully the rest of our member's show up soon so we can get to know them as well.

I have one more "BIG" question ,Who would like to take the team Captain's spot for the 2 week's that I'm away on the moose hunt ?I feel I'll need to have someone in place just in case something comes up while I'm away.

Any taker's?

Anybody who hasn't signed in on the Team checkin Thread please do so.

RE: Team 11 Thread

Rich (Bowdaddy)...hey thanks a bunch for the instructions. My only question is what happen to everyone's name on the logo?

Nubo...tell me about it. Once you start fishing for them, you can't stop. It all started for me when I was six years old. My father took me on a father son fishing trip to White River, Ontario over Memorial Day weekend. Guess what, I am now 26 and have only not gone two years since - this year I didn't get to go since I was detailed to Savannah, Georgia for two weeks for the G8 Conference. Anyway, here in Michigan, our season closes on March 15th and reopens the last Saturday in April. Well, I was fishing on March 14th for seven straight hours without a bite. Then she hit. I caught a wally that went just shy of 30" and 10lbs. The largest one I've ever caught.
There's no better eating (other than a bluegill) fish...my opinion.

Sumhunter! did you say White River Ont ,I'm leaving on the 20th of Sept for White River that's where we go moose hunting and we also catch a few Wally's for a couple feeds .It's great up there maybe we should get together sometime for a bowhunt or Wally fishing . White ?River is about 12 hrs from my home it's quite a drive but well worth the drive ,I've been hunting moose there for 10yrs now but only been bowhunting them for 3 yrs but we're 3 for 3 on the bowhunting.
Welcome to the team Trock thank's for signing in ,hopefully you also signed in on the sign in thread as well.I think we'll have a blast this season . Please send me your e-mail addy so I can add it to our list.

RE: Official Team 11 Thread

Guy's |I've just gotten back from checking my Stealth Cam ,While I was out I thought I'd take my dog with me for some exercise .When I was checking out my cam {1.00pm}the dog was running freely and put out a deer. I heard the crashing and then I heard the deer blow ,I never got a good look to see if he was the same deer that I had been chasing all of last season ,but he was hanging out in the same little area.Although I'm not sure he's the same buck, I do know he's a buck.He ran the same exit routine as last season .When I went out to the truck I seen where he exited the bush and ran along the edge of the corn field when he came around the corner he seen my truck and halted and he zig zagged for about 10yrds and then ran through the creek and jumped into the corn, the track's weren't there when I went in, but were after we left. I might add these track's were very large and couldn't belong to a doe. If by any chance this is the buck I was after last seaon he'll be a good one ,when we found his shed's he was a 9 point with one broken tine.
Anyway's my cam had 6 pic's on it since I put it there last week, so hopefully he's one of the pic's on my cam. I'm positive he's the same buck he's scraped this area up badly last season and I'm hoping he does it again this season ,Hopefully he doesn't vacate the area now that he's been spooked out of it . But as it stands this has really got me pumped and gives me a great outlook on this upcoming season.

Sorry I haven't signed on in a while, but I'm still here. I have been really busy with work and some classes I am taking.

NUBO:
That is unbelievable. I'm sure you probably hunt the same area - Crown Land that is contracted by Domtar Lumber Company. Small world huh? Just curious, do you know the name of the lake you guys fish or hunt around while you're there? We normally fish a lake called Tocheri however they took a bridge out three years ago and haven't replaced it yet. So the last few years we've been fishing Kwinkwaga. I am very familiar with that area. White River itself is about 12 hours for me. That would be awesome to go up there on a bowhunt. How many guys do you go with? Do you do it on your own or do you have a guide?? Oh yeh, one more question if you don't mind me asking...About how much do spend on the trip???

nubo 09-03-2004 08:11 AM

RE: Official Team "The Shafts" (11) Thread

Sumhunter! I've been hunting there for 12 yrs now ,we don't need a guide here in Ont ,I'm very familiar with Kwinkwaga and Fido, and Little Flood and big Flood lakes,I have a map of the area I'll have to check on the Lake that you've mentioned ,but I think that I know the bridge that you've mentioned but we don't normally hunt down that way,and yes Domtar own's the land that we hunt .I heard that Domtar has started up again ,since they've been shut down for the last 2 season's because of the Tarriff on their lumber that applied from the U.S. We turn right when you get to the mill and go in on the 100 road till we get to the 50 rd and turn left ,then we go to the 52 rd and that's the area we hunt .I hunt up near Flood Lakes and we camp at Fido lake .there's only one way into that lake and one way out. I usually spend about $500.00 dollar's for my trip although gas is now out of this world it might cost me a little more this season also we're going for 2 week's instead of the usual 10 day's .I'm about 12 hrs away as well .Keep in touch . That is pretty bizzar that you know the area as well.

Welcome Mr. D & Luckybuck. I look forward to getting to know you!
Opening day is this Saturday, But I am in an earn a buck zone so I have to get a doe first.
I feel I'm set-up in a a nice funnel along the edge of a swamp. This route leads to a soybean field and it looks like they use it quite often. I'm going to be hunting in a ground blind so I'll have the digital video camera going on a tri-pod. If I'm lucky I'll have video footage to share with you all.
I'll let you know how I make out!
If I can open that tag early I'll be in good shape. The bucks are still wearing velvet, I love it!
I'll be in touch;)

How about that it worked!!!
I have had a string of bad luck this past week.
1.The serving on my bowstring had to be replaced and I was without my bow for a week. I will get it back tomorrow.
2. You might have noticed in another thread that I went to retrieve my game cam on Sat and discovered that it was stolen.
3. On my return trip from finding the camera stolen my quad locked up not quite in high gear and I had quite a ride down the mountain.
It is going to the shop tomprrow and desperately need it to hunt my mountain.

They say bad things occur in threes if you believe that nonsense.
Hopefully the rest of my luck will be better come Oct. 2nd.
