Kardkutter, it sounds like you had an exciting morning. It sure makes it worthwhile when you get to see a lot of deer. You say you only saw two yearling... The young ones I have been seeing lately are nearly full-grown. You really have to look to be able to tell the young from the old. It must be that they have gotten plenty of food this year. Tough luck on the miss though... I've been there and I'm sure everyone else has too. I take it to mean that it wasn't meant to be - something better will come along.
Saturday I will be out for sure. It will be cool in the morning, probably about 55 degrees and they are calling for widely scattered showers all day. I don't mind a light rain - it quiets the leaves if I should decide to move about. Doesn't do good for tracking though.
Today I was practicing and I really smacked my forearm - it actually left a welt. On the next couple of shots I noticed a vibration sound. I checked out the bow to find that 're-inforcement' on the bowstring (sorry I don't know technical term) was unraveling. I called the archery shop and the guy said to bring it in. The string 're-inforcement' had to be restrung. So off came the kisser and nock points. He fixed it up and set my points back. At least it wasn't the entire string! When I came home it was too dark to check it out. So, tomorrow I will be doing some extra practice to make sure all my points are where they're supposed to be.
Almost got my doe today - with the truck that is. Two of them came out of a cornfield and went into the woods. The farmer had the corn planted right up to the road. Must have been bedding in the corn (make mental note). ....
Tomorrow I will be washing my clothes with Scent-a-Way and then using the Fresh Earth scent dryer sheets. Any of you guys ever use these - did they work good or bad?

Sorry to hear about the serving Jen. I have never had that happen but now I am sure I will. As for the dryer sheets I have not used them. I keep seeing them but I just can't get myself to buy them. Mainly because I think my wife would have a fit if I made her dryer smell like dirt. I do use the fresh earth wafers that you can get. I just put all my clothes in a scent free bag (don't use garbage bags as they find their way to the curb)
and then put a wafer in with the clothes. When I pull them out they smell like dirt. It doesn't help with static but I don't worry too much about that. It seems to go away after a little bit. Let me know what you think of the sheets. I am really interested in knowing if the leave the dirt smell in the dryer. If not I guess I will be getting some.
Well good luck to everyone. I am off for a evening and morning hunt in about 4 hours. Then it's head home to get homecoming pictures of the kiddies.

Thanks for being patient with me. I am determined to get that camera from my buddy today, one way or another. I hope to have the pictures developed, scanned on the score board within a week.

The serving - That's it! Could not remember what that was called.....
WI - Don't waste your money on the dryer sheets! They smelled like real dirt right out of the pack but then upon opening the dryer they didn't smell at all. (Your wife will be happy to know) I could not smell it on my clothes either. But the real test will come when I encounter the deer in the woods.....
The weather report has changed - they're now calling for thundershowers for most of the day. I hope it holds off until at least 10 am. Damn....[:@]
GOOD LUCK EVERYONE!!!!!

Well I got one.............. well doe that is..........this morning at 5:50 AM. This was illegal hunting hours, I wasn't in my stand and I didn't even have to pull my bow back!!!! Have you figuired out the riddle yet? The deer just jumped right in front of me while driving to my hunting spot. I got out and looked around and didn't see anything and went on to hunt. While hunting I saw one doe at 50 yards, it was too windy. I ended up going back to where I hit the deer and I found it in a ten foot ditch. It didn't look bad and was still pretty warm. So I called the sheriff and he gave me a permit tag to take it. At least it was free. I took it home and cut it up. I only lost the front right quarter due to bruising. It took me most of the day to skin and quarter it up. Man I'm tired. I got 3 hours of sleep before going to hunt. Thank God I didn't drink anything last night. My bumper on my 94 Dodge Ram is pushed in about 2" not really noticeable. I won't be able to hunt tomorrow[
] My dad and I are going to ride in a bike ride 50k or 31 miles.
The deer are going to be moving so much the temp is supposed to get down to 35 degrees.
Good luck everyone!!! I think this 13 has made it's point. Bow string breaking, missing a deer at 20 yards, and now hitting a deer with my truck. WOW

KardKutter please don't give our team a complex - remember it's LUCKY 13! Look on the bright side - you got some meat for the freezer....
bobd - Congrats on your doe!
Well, for my first day I've come home empty-handed. During the morning hunt I seen six deer - two small bucks, a button buck and some does. The button came within 5 yards of me and I could have shot him but I let him pass. He knew something was wrong...he didn't see me at least. At first light there was a deer blowing way out in the empty field. There's no way that deer was blowing at me! There was no wind early but the one buck and the does were snorting. They were downhill from me so I think that my scent was rolling down the hill towards them. I've never had a problem with scent there in the morning so it must have been due to the weather changing. I'm very unhappy that I was detected so easily after all the de-scenting I went thru... We had a short thunderstorm with heavy rain while I was in for lunch and a nap. For the evening hunt all I seen were some squirrels, chipmunks and a bird that landed two feet in front of my face. Oh, a weird thing this morning. I seen this dark orange cat that at first I thought was a fox - it went crazy running around climbing from tree to tree like it was on drugs and then disappeared. Weird! Overall it was a nice day out and I hope I don't regret passing on the button buck....
