Well guys, I have officially wasted 5 days of vacation for 1 sighting of a nice buck.

I don't think I have ever been this discouraged with hunting as I am right now. Good thing that slug season is keeping me away from hunting this weekend. I might even take the following weekend of muzzle loader off as well. I just need a break, not seeing hardly any deer has me somewhat depressed!! I also feel my father has ruined our hunting spot. He stomps around the whole place leaving his scent everywhere. For some reason he thinks he will stalk up on something I guess. He has also wounded 4 deer and just kind of blows it off. It is really starting to get to me. Almost makes me want to hang it up for the season. This break is much needed.

But on the up side...I love the late season. The last 2 weeks of the season, the deer are really grouped up and travel mainly to feeding areas at night and we have figured out how to cut them off, just haven't connected yet. I missed a couple of shots at nice bucks during this time frame.(hard to judge yardage in an open field shooting over a ravine. I will have to steal my buddies range finder.

Good luck to all.

Il Bow man

I know how you feel about your father tromping around your hunting spots and wounding deer. I have to go through the same problems.

My best farm I hunt only allows me and one other to hunt it.

He (the other guy) has total disregard for scent control, wind direction and general common sense for bow hunting. He hunts one stand and pounds the hell out of it.

We had an agreement to not shoot anything but MATURE bucks on this farm.

Last year he didn't shoot anything and this year he wounded a 2 1/2 year old with outstanding genetics. Two years ago he wounded a 1 1/2 old 9 point once again with great genetics. He then shot a 1 1/2 year old 7 point that year.

I would say he isn't living up to his side of the deal.

I also found out he was hunting my stands after I tagged out last year. I went in to check on them and found wads of gum at the base of my tree. Man did that fire me up[:@] I also found and old filthy greasy rag covered in deer urine hanging from a tree branch at that stand. All I can do is shake my head in disgust.

Good luck to you!

Sorry to hear you are injured Andy. But, believe it or not, there are a few things more important than bowhunting so take care of yourself so you can enjoy many more ruts to come!

Good Luck ground hunting!
