Buck, i figured you just wanted to replace em now since i was thinking the Bowtech leaches are pretty good. but whats that behind your stabalizer? is that another limb saver? yoru set up is pretty sweet man if i may say so... ;):D

saw a 8 pointer this morning on the way to work this morning... it was deffinatly a cool experience.. i slowed down, and i was right next to him, it looked like it was going to walk up to my window... but then he decided to just turn around and walk away. too bad people around here probably feed em by hand.. wait that makes it easier to shoot! :D but my land is about 10 miles down the road... [>:] oh well

whats the update with everyone? i know 5 of us cant hunt yet, but what about our hunters in the woods NOW?

any updates? or shall we wait untill sunday?

In an effort to do my part to minimize database lag, I've decided to remove my logo for now completely. I hope none of you mind. I will be putting it back up loud and proud after I post my official score ;)

Well guys, today was a very good day! My best friend and I decided to head into our "honey hole" and get a couple stand sites ready (yeah, I know its a little late). But anyways, this place is looking HOT!!!!! These woods havn't been touched by a soul since rifle season. First thing we did was head to the east side of the woods. There is a large field and from this field, a old logging road goes right through the woods! The entrance of this old logging road was grown up but once we cut a little trail in, the deer trail was unbelievable! When your on this old logging trail, you are surrounded by bedding area! We found the tree that we were in last year and got up in it and only needed to trim a few twigs. There are probablly a dozen or more heavy trails that surround this stand! The stand is in a perfect tree that provides tons of cover while still allowing for great shots. I have decided to put my best friend in this spot as it looks like a major hot spot and I really want him to get a nice buck this year (he has passed more small bucks than anyone I know and hasn't tagged a biggun yet)

Well, we went to the spot where I am going to hunt, and it was awsome looking also. It is located right inside the woodline from a grown up field. There is a trail that the land-owner mowed for us from the corn field at the top, through this grown up field, right to the trail that leads past my stand. This cut path is getting so much use that the ground feels like cement from deer walking it. Usually the deer will move out of the corn field about 200 yards from my stand in the morning and will work through this golden rod field right to my stand. What makes this spot better is that there is an old barb-wire fence that runs along this edge of the woods and the landowner cut the fence where cut trail leads into the woods right by my stand! Now, if that isn't good enough, this cut trail leads right past a pond that is right on the edge of the woods! There are tracks everywhere on the edge of the pond where the deer are taking drinks. It looks great and I can't wait to be in this stand. I will have a 25 yard shot to the major trail not to mention shots as far as I want to take everywhere around me (my tree is in a very open part of the woods that is nothing but huge white oaks with yard grass planted on the forest floor. I could easily get 50 yard shots or more (but I will keep my shots at 30 or less). I will try to make a diagram to show you guys, but this looks like one of the most promissing stands I have ever been at!

OH WHAT A FEELING -

Got out today to shoot my 100grain Muzzy Broadheads for the first time this season. Up until today I've been shooting field tips for consistency and accuracy.

I numbered 5 of my best arrows 1-5 and graphed the consistency of each arrow one at a time. Picked the best 3 and put a Muzzy on and shot it 5 times and graphed the consistency of each BH/Arrow combo. I used the same blades for all 3 BHs, just transfered the dull blades over to the next one so that I will have fresh sharp blades for hunting.

I am happy to say that all of the tuning, adjustments, and practice have paid off very well. My Muzzy's were dead on horizontal (shooting in to the wind) and only had about a 3" drop from the field tips. Made the verticle adjustment then I tested from 15yards, 25, 30, & 35yards on the ground and in a stand. OH WHAT A FEELING to hit the exact spot I'm aiming at, with a broadhead, from 35 yards, elevated, and in a crosswind.

Coincidentally- my best arrows were numbered 1, 2, & 3 with 1 being best!

I have all my gear descented and hanging from a line in the back yard, ready for Friday Morning!!!! Good Luck All - I'm Ready!

IM F'N PISSED OFF!
Gentlemen, Sunday after getting somethings with the land owner settled abot who has permission on the land to hunt ( who im allowed to bring out with me.) while we were walking out to the barn we see soem turkey vultures circleing out in the field. se he wanted to know what it was and i volunteered to help him look since i was currious as well. when we get there we found a 10 pt bucks body very badly eaten and decomposing, but thats not it the chitty thing about this was the fact that there was an arrow sticking out of its shoulder. at such an angle that t was missed about a little low of the blade and then bounced off of the brest plate on the inside, and then into the leg on the other side. the only reason i was able to see the arrow was teh BRIGHT floresent green nock sticking only about 1" out of the left shoulder. [:@][:@][:@]

i tell you POCHERS really PISS ME OFF... so my friend the land owner is really pissed off because that means someone else might be on his property shooting deer. and he is notto fond of that.. i have always been REALLY really generous with him i woudl give him 1/2 of what ever i harvested, and two years ago i gave him the rack to the 10ptr i shot on his land, as a thanks. he cant really hunt anymore since he has a very bad knee and back. but he still enjoys helping the "good honest hunters" out when he can..

there is ONE good thing that came from all of this.. and that is this.. NO ONE, and that means NO ONE has permission to hunt on his property EXCEPT me. and he has called the MCCO (mchenry county conservation office) and they have spoke to me directly about the insident and i told them that i will call them and that i want to help out any i can. i also told them that i will move my trail camera out here to see if i cant find any area where the person or persons are poching... anyway, thought i woudl share, and see if any of you guys have an idea of how to catch them?

the property is near perfect square about 1000 acres total.. there are roads that border EACH side of teh property so i think what i might do is drive around teh property on the first morning of opening weekend and see if there are any trucks pulled into the side of teh roads or try and find their point of entry. the CO will be doing the same on friday while im at work. this totally sucks.. that buck i KNOW was there from two years ago because i let him walk when he was a spike. and i KNOW it was that same one because he has a dark brown patch on his chest. big deer too [:'(]
