RE: ILNYPAKY-EH !!!! (team 4)
IL_BOW_MAN, :D yoru probably the 10th person who has told me a story about themselves or someone they know not working their shoulder out after they were done with the theropy .. i think i will be taking ya'lls advice... man i didnt think it woudl be that bad. hmmmm.... i just got cleared to lift weights again. so im gonna start on the row machine slow and then pick up the pace when i get more used to it. i think the row machine will help me ouut more than anything else.
Hazcon7, you and all the rest of the boys shoudl just take a day trip up to around my neck of the woods and we shoudl have a lunch or something planned... hell i think to Champaign its about 4 hours from me! WHOA. but i think if there is some kinda forest preserve 1/2 way i woudlnt mind bringin my bow and my delta deer target for some fun.. we coudl bring some fishing poles if the park has a fishing area and or stuff to grille.. maybe split the distance between us all. that way we are only driving about 1.5 to 2 hours each ;) i dont mind driving.... just would like to get home before 12:00 at night! i know Hammerman is close to me, well at least no more than 45 minutes from me. hes closer to you guys than me by 45 minutes... maybe we ocudl carpool and you coudl start driving up here with anyone else that might be down there Kcison, and we coudl meet somewhere i dunno near Joliet? or maybe a little further south or west? hmmmm thats awesome about those bucks extreme good luck puting your tag on them! |

daystalker, Carpooling sounds like a good idea. Just need to find a place to meet.? If anyone knows of some good property to hunt within 1 1/2 hrs from chicago I would be interested, maybe lease or do some work for the right to hunt (I'm a carpenter). I'm hunting only public ground this year so far it looks very promising but all the crazies haven't been in the woods yet so I'm looking for other options.

Yeah Hammerman i dont want to make you loose all that time and effort that you have spent scouting and watching deer on public land, so try those out. when the season gets real close to the rut let me know if you havent bagged that big one i have a lease out in Hampshire that you would be more than welcome to join my friend and I out there. its off of rt 20 west of randall road. i dunno how long it woudl take you to get there but im guessing you dont care. :D but like i said go with what your used to and if that doesnt work out let me know. i only have two more spots after that and one is a private residence, the other is kinda real small, only about 10 acres but the fact that the deer have been fed by the neighboring people seems to make it kinda nice spot to tag a couple animals that will probabaly end up as road kill.
other than that I live in a little place i like to call EARTH. its comprised of mostly ROCk and MOLTANT hot MAG-MA! and in SOME places it grows these animals that resemble small horses with ANTLERS.... so i started hunting without a weapon when i was 8 following behind my; father, uncle's and grandfather, learning everything they woudl teach me for the next 5 years when it was legal for me to take the hunting saftey course and hunt with a riffle up north. my first year was skunked year. didnt get a shot at anything. but the next year changed my life. shot a 10 pointer that we havent gotten measured because my uncle cut the antlers off the scull to mount for me shortly after we got it back to camp.... anyway every year after that i have harvetsed at least a 6 pointer. i didnt have high standards untill about 18 when i started looking for the big bucks.. but being raised how i was we were also meat hunters. living WAY up north was kinda that way. i am now 26 and had to take teh last part of last season off due to a rotator cuff injury which i feel is almost fully repaired and back to normal. anyway i have also one person to answer to and she wants me out of the house as much as possible so i guess i get to spend lots of time in the woods. i havent scored any buck over 178 unlike like Kcison has, but i feel teh bucks i have gotten are good enough for me.. and since we here in IL get to harvest TWO bucks i will shoot the FIRST respectable MANAGEMENT buck i see. then wait for my BRUISER to walk by my stand. and iu think that is what all the IL hunters should do it, as a battle strategy so to speak. this is i feel the best way to win.. consistancy rather than two bucks with HUGE size we get 5-6 bucks or hell even 10 bucks of average size.. BUT those of you in places that only allow ONE buck you guys HUNT it like you woudl NORMALLY hunt it.. i dont want anyone to be skunked.... and as always good luck, happy and SAFE hunting seasons. no im off to the hardware store to try and find a motion spot light! :D |

OK I guess I will follow suit with kelly.
Hi, my name is Mitch....and I am addicted to bowhunting. I have been hunting since I was 15. For those keeping count, that is 13 years. 13 years of bowhunting. I slug hunted one year and hung the gun up as I didn't like it. I wish my stats were as good as the above, but unfortunatly they aren't. I have wounded 2 deer (does) without finding them and 1 buck which was found 2 months later. I only have 4 whitetail bucks to my credit. 2 that were 1.5 year olds, 1 that was probably 2.5 years old and the 13 pointer from my previous post that net scored low 140's on Thanksgiving morning. The other 6 whitetails I shot were all does except 2 button bucks. Since 2001 when I arrowed my 13 pointer I have become...shall we say picky? Explains why I don't have a deer to my credit for the last 2 years. Passed up several 1.5 year olds and even 1 that was 2.5 years old last year(big mistake). I hate to admit it guys, I may not be so picky this year. To my collection I add 1 elk from Colorado last year...small 4x5, nothing big but having an elk at 20 yards and knowing he was legal is all I needed!! The prior year I shot a 4x3 mule deer and 2001 I shot a 4x4 mule deer. All in all I don't think we have this contest wrapped up, lots of people in good areas out there. But it is fun picking on the other teams and will make this year really fun on the boards!! |

Okay, I'll add some more about myself....
My name is Jason, I am 21 years old and I was born and currently live in Indiana County Pennsylvania! I hunt several pieces of property including mine, my honey hole (which is owned by my neighbor and my family and friends are the only people who hunt it), and my best friends uncles farm! I have been hunting since I was 12, I have been archery hunting since I was 14, and I went on hunts with my father and grandfather since I was 7! I have shot 6 bucks in my first 6 seasons, the past two I havn't got a buck as I have been much more selective! My first deer was a 100" 8 point, second was a 110" 8 point, third was a 115" 8 point, fourth was a 130" 8 point, fifth was a 135" 8 point, and my 6th and last buck was a 143" 12 point! I take my hunting very seriously and I just don't look at hunting only when season is around. I spend the entire year getting ready for season. I have planted 6 food plots this year and put several mineral licks out in areas that I won't hunt this area! I shoot my bow, a BowTech Liberty, every day at distances ranging from 15 yards out to 50 yards and I feel that I am shooting great! I have become much more selective in my shots within the past two years and I am learning how to be patient! I have also become much more selective on the deer that I shoot. The property that I have been hunting have been managed by my best friend and I for the past several years. We have a rule of shooting bucks that we feel are 3-1/2 or older or with 125" racks or above! My scouting has been pretty productive this year and I have been seeing some bruisers (for my area anyways). Last night while spotting, I saw 5 bucks that were P&Y quality at one farm that I hunt! One thing that I pride myself on is trying to soak up any and all information I can on hunting. I am not thick-headed, if there is any info or tips, I will listen and utilize them! Finally, I focus most of my hunting on either staging areas or watering holes. My favorite stand is on the edge of a golden rod field and a stand of whiteoaks. There is a small pond 15 yards in front of my stand that is right on the edge of the woodline. To the east is a cut powerline surrounded by crabapples, and to the east of that is a large clover/alfalfa/corn field! This year I will also have one great section which is a finger of woods that leads to a clover/alfalfa field. This finger is planted in BioLogic Green Patch Plus, Imperial Whitetail Extreme, and Evolved Habitats ProGraze! This finger is usually worked hard by bucks in the evening as they move out into the fields to meet up with the does! That will do for now................. GO ILNYPAKY-EH:D |
