barnett quad 400 avi
IAM CURRENTLY LOOKING REAL HARD TO PURCHASE MY FIRST CROSSBOW. I'VE BEEN PRICING THE BARNETT QUAD 400 WHICH SEEMS TO FIT MY BUDGET PRETTY GOOD. I LIKE THE SPEED, SIZE, FEEL AND PRICE. MY QUESTIONS ARE: 1. WILL I REGRET IT LATER AND WISH I HAD PUT A COUPLE OF HUNDRED MORE INTO IT A BETTER CROSSBOW. 2. IS THE AVI SYSTEM WORTH THE EXTRA MONEYON A CROSSBOW. I WOULD APPRECIATE ANY HELP. THANK YOU ALL

I had a Q-400 but not the AVI
I was not happy with it and sold it.
It blew up on the new owner after a few shots.
He called Barnett and they did promptly send him a new one which he sold.
They are not for me but I have not seen or shot any of the new ones.
Good luck.
IMHO You can do much better

Cowboy -
I've got one (the AVI model).
I HAD...the non-AVI model. The trigger was not good on the older model, so Barnett, thru a long process of elimnation, swapped my standard model for an AVI model.
MUCH nicer trigger (not rifle good, but better), and yea, the bow is a little quieter.
PLUS...the rubber coating on the limbs offers a lot of protection for out in the brush.
It shoots well, accurate. The sight took a little work to get it right, but that was the only problem.
Works for me...

RE: barnett quad 400 avi
It really depends
If you need a crossbow that fits a small budget that takes your deer the Barnett option offers good performance at a reasonable price.
Just my 2 cents
if you go with the Quad 400 just make sure you get a 08 model as in 2008 Barnett updated their trigger to all metal
(gives a better feeling )
(there is a review of the similar Revolution AVI here:
