good point hotburn, thats a real viable question especially w/ crossbows[&:]

THe instructions say to make sure the limbs are warm (as in room temperature) so I leavethe bowin a nice warm room for several hours, then clean down the spot with alcohol and stick them on. They say wait 5 minutes then go shoot. I myself tend to wait at least an hour or so just to be on the safe side. I have had an occasional one pop off of a Parker since they come factory on them, but I am sure that is more of a prep issue than an issue with the limbsavers themselves. Somewhere along the line the limb just did not get cleaned up enough. I have also shot them in stinkin cold and unberable heat and not had them come off, so I am happy with them...

There is a way to quiet that echo chamber effect with aluminum shafts, but it does add some weight.

Materials list: Get a block of that light foam florists use to make floral arrangements, and a 1/8" dowel.

Remove the inserts fromyour shafts. Push the insert end of the shaft through the foam. The shaft will cut it's way through the foam and form a plug inside the shaft.Use the dowel to push that plug all the way back to the nock end. Repeat the process until the shaft is filled.The more the foam is compacted, the more foam you put inside, so to keep the arrow as light as possible avoid compacting the foam any more than absolutely necessary to get the inserts reinstalled.

This works great on full length aluminum arrowsI used on my trad bowsand I see no reason it won't work equally as well on crossbow arrows. Unfortunately, Idon't knowthe grains per inch that foam adds to a 2216 or 2219arrow. It's been a long time since I've done it and I don't think I ever weighed an arrow afterwards anyway. But it really does eliminate that metallic twang that an aluminum arrow makes from time to time.

The weight tubes from Three Rivers Archery also work well, but they do not make it in the 22 size.Personaly I just prefer using carbon and adding the weight forward where it needs to be on a crossbow...

Just curious as to how they hold up. On my Horton Super Max 175 they had them on and I never had a problem with them. Had heard that the recurves have a harder time with them I think, not sure if it was on here on another site. I also could have them mixed up with putting things on the string and flying off, not sure. But if they hold up and only cost a few FPS I would be willing to try it and see what my Chrony tells me. One of the things that I like about the silencing thing is not just the sound part, I could care less about that in the woods since all mine are close shots, but it helps the neighbors out some! LOL!! But I think it also has to help the CB out since it mainly removes vibration, and taking out some of that has to help the longevity of the bow one would think.
