More b-head tests, apparently Rage 3 blades failed 1st test and they are gonna retest them.

I use mechs but I do believe that there is less that can go wrong with a fixed blade head. I have never had a problem with the steelhead but if there was ever a question in my mind I would move on. I guess a bad review or two would nudge me in another direction.
I don't know what the big deal is with the Slicks but I am sure tempted by a fixed blade head that flys like a mech. Maybe when I run out of steelheads.
I am also pretty sure I don't need a 2 inch wound channel as a marginal shot is gonna cause problems regardless of the size of the hole. 1 inch is plenty if your letting the air out of them. >>>>Whack!

I shot the wasp jackhammers for a while worked good on the first 8 deer I shot with them on the 9th deer a really good size buck[9 point about 240#] I had a quartering away shot when the swing open blade next to the deer opened it changed the angle of penatration and only got one lung; I had to track that deer for at least a mile took over half a day,if you use that type blade I would suggest only broadside shots. no way i would shoot arrow at buck unless it is BROADSIDE..i left MANY bucks walk over years and never lost buck or had bad dreams on a bad shot...
mechinical/fixed, does not matter...

fun is not killing anyhow, its storys and hunt i like most...

you would be shocked at type of hunters i am seeing now with mechinical heads, they shoot50/60 yards with compound bows on pipelines at doe, some dont even check to see if they did miss or not and some dont even look for arrows...

there is program i am watching on tv right now on hunting deer..
he hit buck in the left shoulder with mechinical head, arrow fell off after buck ran 2 jumps, this was a quartering shot walking away..
that is terrible, i am surprised they showed this on tv......

no doubt a fixed blade would have gone in........

I shoot eastmans, or allens, and I also have used rocket, all three work great and I have them for my compound and also for the crossbow. The allens are cheap like 10 bucks for three of them but they shoot great and have never lost a deer when shooting them. the eastmans come in several different styles I like the ones with the big razor pointed tip with the three blades. I shot a doe at 35 yard and she dropped with in 10 yards of the shot.

I read an article that explained how a quartering shot is a much better shot than broadside. I'll see if I can find it. Maybe not with a mechanical though.

The reason I want to try mechanicals is I tried 3 kinds of broadheads and they all shot low and to the right. I shoot 125 grain. Maybe I should try 100's and see if that changes anything.

I started shooting NAP Spitfire mech's last season. I won't shoot any other broadhead on the market. They work wonderful. My hunting buddy asked how I liked them after last season's crossbow season in KY and he switched to them in mid season. NEVER have they opened in mid flight. They don't have a rubber band holding the blades closed they open as the broadhead enters and the blades fold open towards the fletching of the arrow. This things are awesome!!!!!

First of all, the spitfires will work just great, I ha e used them for many years. About angled shots with any head will all depend on your blade angle. That is if your blade angle is greater then the angle of the animal, then you will probably going to ha e problems. That is, haing the blade strike the animal before the tip starts to trak into the animal. This goes for any heads, fied or mehanials. The trouble was that some mechanicals had blade tips that did not allow much of an angle at all. Hope this helps
