Thank you, that helps a lot..
There is an abbreviation here as well, but only on one box, 3 1/4 DR. EQ, I think that is the one that got me wondering..

Mercy....you bought a new gun, but you know nothing about Shells??? dude who let you buy this guy....you better get some serious supervision, before you shoot it.....your post is scaring me.........by the way....the barrel with the bridge on top is a Sabot or a rifle slug barrel.....the other looks like a smooth bore for turkeys or small game.....oh and this is a Xbow Forum not a shotgun forum.....mercy....Honkers
I think this is uncalled for and demeaning. I think you owe Pydpiper an appology!

That is a reference to an archaic method of measuring black powder. It basically refers to the black powder used to attain a certain velocity. Some old habits are hard to stop, like wanting to beat on someone's head! LOL!

Well....it was kinda scary listening to someone that bought shells with Rabbits or whatever on the box and not knowing WTH he was buying...as for the barrel.....comment my bad...ussally a barrel with a saddle is for a Scope and shoots Rifle or sabots slugs....as for an appology forget it.....kid still needs supervision....End of story...goodluck!!

So a person honestly, in public admits they don't know enough about ammo so that scares you??? I hope that is not true! He is man enough to tell us he does not know it all. He is also respected enough that he could make a joke about the shell box. That is man enough for me to trust him. He does not need supervision, he needs friendly, helpful advice not criticism. I for one will help him, not berate him for not knowing. We are supposed to help each other not........... well you know all too well don't you?

I also feel as Dnk does that your statement was out of place, after you
have been on this forum for awhile that every thing from porch repair
to guns, walls, dogs and every thing else that is involved in our lives we
share with the people on this forum,as they are more like family and
true friends, and where else do you go first with what is important in
your life and you want to share with then to those who mean the most
to you.Maybe after you have been around here as long as some of these people have you might understand that he wasnt out of place you were
and I feel he has an apology coming.

Thanks guys, I got it now..
It was the 1 1/8 part that had my scratching my head, after a phone call and a couple good laughs I have it all figured out..
I kept trying to make a connection from the 1 1/8 oz. to the shot size, then it finally came together for me..

I think I am ready to graduate toa box with a bigger animal on it.Life is good.

I learned a lot about these things tonight, more importantly, a lot about you guys too. Thank you, for everything.

I'm going to have to buy one of those before next fall myself, my son just passed hunters saftey about a week ago, he has a .22, a deer rifle and has had his own bow setup for awhile, so hes pretty set up, about the only thing hedoesnt have is his own shotgun, and he wants one...

he's kind of a little guy and cant handle a full sized shotgun but he's handled and likes the 20ga 870youth model, which means I'm on the look out for one of those...
