Average shooting distance?

I'm thinking about purchasing a Crossbow for a hunting trip next fall. I will be hunting out of a blind and think a crossbow would be easier than a compound. One question I have is what isa comfortable shooting distance with a cross bow? 30 yrds, 40 yrds, 50?

First thing most people do not realize is that crossbows are just another piece of archery equipment. They basicly have the same effective range as the other style bows.
The average safe distance for a crossbow is 30-40 yards. Beyond that, you are giving deer too much time to react to either the sound of the bow or the arrow, this can casue a bad hit. Now with slower animals like Moose, you can go a little further in distance.
God luck.

The furthest I've taken a deer with a crossbow was 38 yards. Everything was perfect. The deer was eating, a raking away angle that let me slip a broadhead behind the ribs and out the chest. I would not try to exceed that distance more or less unless everything was perfect.
