My first experience w/ weasels came at the tender age of about 5 or 6. I was at my grand parents along long time ago, lol. Went to help Granny get the eggs and there were a few dead chickens and a weasel in the chicken house. Can't remember where she got her old gnarled hands on the garden hoe, but vividly recall her chasing the weasel around the chicken house w/ hoe. There were chickens flying every where, dust and chicken crap getting flung every where and still Granny would hoe, hoe, hoe after that weasel. Can't even remember who won, Granny or the weasel, lol. Some how I think this may have scarred me for life, as ever since that day, every time Christman comes around and some Santa anywhere says "Ho, Ho, Ho," I still see Granny and her hoe chasing that weasel.

Hey Squirrel, you live on a farm. Ever see one?

I've been night hunting for coon and stopped in the barn a few times with some .22 shorts lookin for rats, I had one run across the manger hall once. I shot at it but all i kilt was some poop. lmao they're kinda fast little things.

Definitely check with your game regs, weasel are considered "fur bearing" in most areas and may have different rules for taking them.

A neighbor of mine used to have ferrets, which are weasels, and even "descented" they stunk a little. Whenever a domestic weasel set up camp and started to scope outmy late grandpappy'schicken house he'd turn loose what he called his "weasel dog", usually a beagle. He explained the training process for making such a specialized critter as follows: "Boy, what you do is git yerself a half growed beagle pup and put him in a rain barrel, then ya live trap a weasel and put him in with the pup and hold the lid down tight. You'll hear a gawdawful racket for awhile, then it'll git real quiet in that barrel. Once it goes quiet ya lift the lid and see who won, if'n it's the weasel ya shoot it, but if'n it's the pup he'll be a mite tattered but he'll also hate weasels for the rest of his life."

He was right, every beagle he ever had hated them and would mercilessly track them down if they caught the slightest whiff of one in the breeze.

Last question about this, well maybe not, do weasels smell bad enough to smell when they are hiding or not seen? So if one was in the middle of a bunch of smelly chickens does the weasel stench out power the chicken stink?Correct me if I am wrong but they smell like skunks don't they?
I am not sure about chickens, but I have seen other experiences with different animals. If a weasel is with a group of nice bucks the smell of dominant old wise bucks can cover up the smell of a weasel in a hurry. If a enough bucks are in the group and just think of the does and what they need to be doing as a core group, they can actually walk all over the weasel and not even know he is there. I have seen it done!

I had forgotten how hard you guys make me laugh. Here I have been dodging this place just to get a break from the PC and ten minutes of reading and I realize what I’ve been missing. My friends
