Dnk........Kinda bet that pic is not of someone using a carbon off of a crossbow, unless he a candidate for the Darwin award, "probably" off a compound and you said you use carbons off a compound.Soooo where does that leave you???????...............Once in my shop I had a customer using Nitro Stingers(junk) and the front sight was not tight and slid down, resulting in a collision with the arrow, arrow broke in half the rear half entering the(left) forearm and exited the wrist(sorry no pics) too busy trying to save his life when he took out 4ins of the artery......Wish all my deer bled that bad..........................Still have not answered why Easton does not guarantee their alums to stay straight???????And when was the last time you shot 10 deer with the same arrow??????? There is only "one real arrow " and that is the GOLD TIP(STRAIGHTNESS .001 weight tolerence+or-2grs)

Where does that leave me? Humm guess Darwin wasn't yapping about me because I check my carbons before shooting. I know you didn't think about that so I thought I should let you know. Yes we had one person here have a carbon come apart on the shot from his xbow. Have you ever heard of an aluniunm having the spine shot out of it or coming apart on the shot? Guess not. Nope my last XX78 was as straight as a pin when I destroyed it in a Robin Hood. I don't know of any manufacuterer to guarantee the longevity of their shaft's spine. What toilet did you get that one from and whats with the fetish with keeping track of how many deer you shot with one shaft? I would think a gaget guy like yourself would be quite the opposite. BTW sounds like you are bashing carbons how, might be some bi-polar thing happening here. Sooooooo tell me what difference I'll see between your Gold tip and an XX78 when I wack a deer? Oh thats it my shot will be a thou off center! I have complete confidence in my equipment which you obviously do not. Otherwise you would not grasp at every bit of imagined advantage to attain the confidence level that I already have. Its practically a sin to tell guys like Mike that his hunting is inferior because he cannot or will not afford more expensive equipment. He is superior to you because he is a successfull hunter with basic tools and he enjoys the hunt not the gagetry. Hunting is about the hunt not the equipment and shooting is about breathing, trigger control etc. Yes some knowledge about equipment is important. I own quite a lot of techie junk but I am getting bored with most of it and and I am enjoying the hunt more and more as I get older. I have nothing against you and all your suggestion but I do think some of the others that are just starting should be guided towards learning the basics of hunting and shooting rather than fancy equipment. You sound like you have lots of experience in hunting and shooting, why not help them with the basics?
Jaygail, please don't take my "shots" at you personally. Its all meant in a harmless way. I think its ok to disagree and to agree to disagree.

Mike, Don't worry about it, he's poor in the heart area already. He might learn tho and then we can talk to him at the same level, on earth.

Dnk,,,My carbons will shoot as good as your alums, but they will last much, much, longer....And of course I test them before shooting...In fact they are not really good for business, my good shooters used to buy app. 2 to 3 dozen alums. from me every year. Now with the carbons they buy app. 1 dozen every two years or longer....You never heard me say that all carbons are created equal(alas the Stinger thru the forearm, and Eastons garbage carbons). And this is something that you were not aware of, Easton produced a bunch of alum. a few years ago that were snapping off at various spots along the tube due to either bad production or bad metal..I had to find out the hard way(another story for another day) I do not trust their business practices(I was told they knew about those failures)..As far as price goes I sell the Gold Tips for the same price as the alums(what nit-wit would buy the alums. after I explained that to them)That mutes one of your arguments...............I fully admit I am not the best "hunter in the world" and how do we judge that,by how full my freezer is, by how many racks are on the wall, or by how much personal satisfaction you get from hunting or using the equipment that you own...I told you before I am an equipment nut,,,and even on my worst day, you would not be able to out-shoot me...I have been lucky in this business, I have shot with some of the best shots in the world(bows, rifles and "handguns",something you do not see alot ofin Canada) and have always been able to hold my own. This is not blowing my own horn, we already know how much better a "hunter" you are than I am, and how much older and senile you grow by the day(LOL, not hardly)

Geeeze, my two Freedom Arms 454 and 44, 44 629, CZ 75, Erma 22 and 45 ACP comp gun must be my imagination! I shoot in my shop every day and once in a while when I'm settting up my bow after an equipment change I blow a shot. Why is it that Gold Tips litteraly explode and the Axis bounce off the concrete wall with no damage at all? I do own about three dozen Gold Tips so its not like I don't like them. I am not a great hunter just a good hunter. Everything else you yap about is not worth regurgetating so I just say that I prefer to call myself mature, LOL rather than older. Unlike a young punk like yourself, though widely self respected. Ya know maybe you are an older more senile fart than Mike and I. I bet you are typing away in an old age home, drooling at the mouth thinking you still shoot arrows!
Your friend
Don
