Default 3-D Help

Found a 3-D shoot this coming Sunday at, of all places, the AR chapter on Bowsite. It's being put on by some trad club, but all are welcome, and I would be first to enter w/ crossbow. Since I've never been to one before, I'm kinda wondering what to expect. Five hours round trip for about 40 shots. The guy I talked to on the phone said they have two stakes in front of each target, the close one is 5-25yds for trads and the other for compounds, targets out to 35. He said since I have a recurve xbow I could shoot the close stakes!! Figured that would really whizz the regulars off, so told him I thought I could get 35 yds out of my xbow "on a good day". Anybody got any tips or ideas on how to do this?? I'll take all the help I can get!

I saw a post about crossbows being used at a 3D shoot and from what was said the ones using a crossbow gat bashed hard.. I think you will do great.. maybe you will get the chance to educate a few the truth about crossbows,, maybe you could get them to set up a 20 yard shoot and you do a side by side with a compound shooter and then do a 40 yard shoot still using your 20 yard crosshair, and the compound shooter using his or her 20 yard pin,, this will show them that there is very little difference beteww the power of the 2..
good luck at the shoot,,

Thanks guys, you can count on me to be nice no matter what, but I'm lookin for specific advice from 3-D shooters on how to figure out the ranges ect. I am very competitive, and will make every effort to win this sucker. It would just tickle me to see me or one of us listed on Bowsite as winning a shoot w/ under "equipment" Excal or Horton or Ten Pt. I think Dnk shoots 3-D, maybe others. I figure there has to be little gimmicks that the regular attendee's would know about. The guy on the phone told me its one arrow at each of the 16 targets, but you go around twice. Do they add your scores together? I'd think the jig would be up so to speak, if they let you walk to the target to pull your arrow on round one. Gotta go practise!!

I use to do the 3-D when i was able. The main thing is mentally marking your distance on each shot. Walk up to any 3-D targets prior to the starting the shoot get good looks at those 12 and 10 rings yer shooting at. They did tell regular sights no scopes? Yer foot don't matter which one has to touch stake as you shoot. They will talk trash to you while yer trying to shoot so as to mess you up. We had targets from 5 yds. to 50 yds. I would attend them here cept gas prices have put hurt on anything extra not in budget. Best of luck to you and show them were just like them!
