Rifle Casing Pens

1 Attachment(s)
Well I bought a nice lathe a month or so back and am getting my stuff together to make pens again...heres a couple I made a few days ago out of 308 brass and walnut. The lighter colored one is cedar. I'll start selling them if there's a demand for them..

Psylocide 05-01-2013 10:28 AM

Pretty neat!

The Rev 05-01-2013 10:38 AM

Nice Bubba; I've always been a pen freak.

Psylocide 05-01-2013 11:53 AM

I just want to know how many grains of powder are in those shells and what primers you used.

I'd like a pen that can write around 2800 fps.

The Rev 05-02-2013 07:05 AM

Price out some of them; I bet some of US will buy them. I sell 95 % off all my knives on Texas Hunting forums, and most sell within a hour.

I was thinking $20 for them does that sound like a fair price? I traded the ones in the pic for similar valued item. I plan on making some antler ones as well.

I don't know what kind of time you spend on the but I know that the refils has to do a lot with the value. I don't know what you use but to me Schneider refills are hard to beat. I have a $500.00 Mont Blanc and don't like the refill at all. I like that pump action you get from the Schneider.

Even though I've left the corporate world where I normally had a pen in my hand for hours, I still have week spot for wood pens.

These aren't that high end :) it has a cross refill seems to write decent. takes me a little over an hour to complete one start to finish. That's including polishing...

This is the first Hybrid metal/wood pen Ive made. I like the Majestic series pens they are bigger but feel better.

Fieldmouse 05-03-2013 08:59 AM

They do look really nice. I'm interested in them.

I cant send you PM's it says you dont accept them or something :)I can make any of these for you prices vary depending on what type of wood you want. The highest priced wood combo is the leopard wood/ cocobolo rosewood at $40 for the pencil and $35 for the pen. The shell casings are .270, 308, 30/30 30-06 blanks from Memorial day formation in my home town.

I don't have antler yet...takes about 3 days to ship from here.

Chuck7 06-07-2013 01:26 AM

I don't know about the PMs..I just sent a few out last week and I received replies ...

I'm interested in a 270 pen..What about refills..? when it runs out of ink,,Will that be availalble..and if so how much? Do I send the money first? or after I get the pen? I'd like a dark colored wood with the 270..it does not matter what kind of wood for me.

Thanks,
Chuck7

PS I'll shoot you a PM.

Its a Cross refill. They are available almost anywhere...the pen pulls apart and you unscrew the refill and put the new one in.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-CROSS-Bal...item20cf4536dd

Which wood color do you like? That will change the price slightly...

I will need your email address and street address where you want your pen delivered, then I can send you an invoice and you can either send the payment by money order or Paypal. Once I receive payment I try to send the pen out the same day unless its a weekend and the Post office is closed. Typically takes 3 business days for delivery. If you want it next day the shipping is extra.

Fieldmouse 06-07-2013 08:36 AM

I will say they are very nice. I've bought a few so far.

Hi there i am a newbie out here and just registered on this forum..so first wanted to let you know of it before getting on with proceedings out here,..nice to meet you all.

Chuck7 06-08-2013 04:35 AM

Hey Guys,
Here's a pen my son bought me a few years ago..I used to use the 30-30 Marlin a lot..note the top of the pen is like a 30-30 round. The body of the penis an antler.

Wilcam47 06-09-2013 10:25 PM

Antler pen looks nice, I want to try turning antler but I read you have to get a breathing mask because the antler dust is abrasive and not good for your lungs.

The one in the pic is sold...but let me turn the other one later today and see how it turns out. I don't know where this olive wood comes from. it was just marked olivewood at the place I bought it...The stuff I have on order IS the Bethlehem olive wood. It will be later tonight as I have errands to run today:mad1:
