the rabbit's that I have shot have all had really thin skins. I just take the fur along the belly and rip it open and then skin the rabbit. Then I just gut it like a miniature deer.

Fishy...On rabbits, dunk them into a bucket of water first. This keeps that annoying hair from flying around and sticking back to the meat. It really does the trick!
On squirrels, just make a small cut halfway between the anus and tail. Go through the tail bone, but just barely. Then slice an inch down the thigh...stand on the tail...pull on the hind legs...and the squirrel will be mostly skinned. Just pull off the rest of the skin in one piece, cut the head and legs off...and gut.

On rabbits, gut it, cut off its head, continue to hunt. At the end of the day, have a partner hold the rabbit upside down. pinch the skin on each ankle/knee (??) and give a quick yank. A few yanks later, you should have it skinned. The skin is really thin and easy to tear through. Not much fur gets on the meat this way either.
On squirrels, go back on the Small Game, Predator, Trapping site and look for threads. Several good techniques are given there.

To skin a rabbit I always nail a string to a post about shoulder and loop the rabbits hind legs in two loops , make a cut across the hind legs to get started then pull the hide over the rabbits head like taking off a sweater then cut the head off at the neck and then take a small knife and open the underside and tear out the intestines, then soak the blood out and the cut up in pieces, Squirrel pretty much the same way except he is a little tougher....

Yhe easiest way i have found is to get a pinch of skin on their backs , make a slit . grab both sides with each hand and pull until the hide comes all the way down to their paws. Cut the paws and the head off , gut it and your set.

How many of you have gutted a rabbit this way.
Hold the rabbit with your thumb and forefinger of each hand wrapped round it, just under it's front legs, rabbit's head up, palms of your hands up. Firmly squeeze as you work your way down, causing internals to bunch up in belly of rabbit. Once you feel it's not going any further, and while still firmly squeezing on it's middle, pull up above your head, and sling as hard as you can down between your legs (don't let go of the rabbit). I swear, all the guts fall right out it's butt and is clean as a whistle inside. Gut pile on the ground. Pull the skin off and continue hunting. I swear, rabbits stink worse than deer inside! LOL
