I bought a turkey fryer at Academy a couple of days ago. The only problem is, it's got all sorts of "safety" BS on it like a thermocouple and a timer that automatically shuts it off after 20 minutes. It is nearly impossible tokeep this thing lit. The hose goes from theregulator and screws into the timer/thermocouple. The burner screws into the back of the timer/thermocouple. What I'm wanting to do, is remove the timer/thermocouple and connect the LP hose directly to the burner like most of the NORMAL fryers. But, The male end of the hose that screws into the timer/thermocouple is just a tad too small to screw directly into the burner. ShouldI be able to find a hose with the correct fitting on it to make it work? Or, an adapter toattach to the male end to make it fit? If so, where should I look? My next option would be to simply by a seperate burner assembly for approximately 25bucks.

Check with your local LP gas suppiers, some will make hoses, and they also carry an assortment of fittings. I would carry my cooker with me, that way you know your getting the correct fitting. Hope you'll be cooking soon.

Check your yellow pages for A Grill parts store or a place that fixes grills. I found one once that way for parts for my BBQ hose.
Also a plumbing supply store may have it.

I actually took the hose to our local NAPA store that also does high compression fittings. I got a 3/8 inch fitting put on the "burner" end of the hose. However, there must have been some type of "pressurizer" device inside the timer/thermocouple because now the flame is yellow and won't turn blue no matter what and the pressure isn't as high. Any thoughts?
My current plan is to buy the $25 burner assembly next time I'm at Academy (If I can't figure out why this one has a yellow flame).

I FIXED IT!!!!!!!!!
Basically I took off the timer and thermocouple. Then I removed the plunger device that acts as the gas shutoff. This way, the burner was not getting too much flame and wasn't burning all yellow. Now it burns just as it was before except there is no timer or thermocouple device to deal with. I knew I'd figure it out, it just took some time and about $6 in parts. Off to fry some fish for dinner!!!![/align]
