Default How do you prepare food on the hunt?

In our camp we enjoy a good meal, and take pride in what we prepare
my cousin from Traver city MI is an executive chef and the one year he went on the hunt" weeat like king's " he could take a potato and have you think you were eating cake" But for the most part we vacuum seal meals and reheat them on the woodstove or the trusty Coleman2 burner
camp stove.we usually bring up what elk meat we have left from the year before and fry it with sliced potato's. Hear is a clip of my bro and our camp cook set up. http://melrose-elk-camp.googlegroups.com/web/cooking+with+eric.wmv?gda=242tF0sAAAD_sYTpGVCFncl0 WTAFA_mbsFjkMOYh9JERa7hcDsbR7BVJVT3hrgKrn_IySc8la3 L8778OYcsDM_-vDGYVyGLzP1oNiobEcwG2wmQo0n0-8w

I usually make sure my dutch oven and a good short shovel go with me to camp. I dig a pit beside the campfire, a bit larger than the dutch oven. In the morning before leaving camp, put everything that's for dinner into the oven, have a good morning campfire going, push coals from it to bottom of pit, wrap oven in tin foil to foil dirt entry, put in hole, add more coals from campfire, shovel some loose dirt over top, hunt all day, come back to camp to the original slow cooker meal ready to eat.
If you have a whole day in camp, make bread, pie, cake, whatever, in the dutch oven. It will all taste great.
