Default Tonights hunt

Hi guys, This evening I went hunting behind my house, not more than 20 minutes after I arrived which was about 5:30 I heard a buck running around behind some bushes where I was unable to see him, He was grunting and snorting continuously.
I tried grunting at him, and it seemed to make him more aggressive.
After about 15 minutes he finally walked off and I unfortunantly didnt get a shot at him.
Oh well, I'll go back in the morning.
Any advice on the way to get this big boy in the morning?

Hey 131.
Sounds like you got yourself an exciteable little critter on your hands. My guess is, he'll be out all night lookin' for trouble. The moon is getting full. What kinda woods are you in? (State?)

Ive had bucks show up at dusk, then return the next morning from the direction that they left the night before? He could be setting up some secondary scrapes tonight.

I would get in the woods early and if you don't jump him on the way in, he could move through on his way to bed down.

Good Luck

Thanks for the reply, I'm in central Georgia, and I'll probably do like you said and ease down there a little early.
Maybe I'll catch him on the way in, Any idea of a technique to use in calling him?

We don't usually see any agression from bucks up here til Oct. I don't think I would go crazy with the calling. Perhaps a tending grunt or soft doe bleat if you should hear or see him tomorrow.

Good deer? B/c I've seen young bucks come to some pretty crazy calls when I was practicing. Young and dumb...

You'd better hit the hay if you want to get up early.

Good luck and let us know what happens.
