Default Dry fired!

Hi again all, while out target practicing today, I cocked my cross bow and right as i was letting go of the string, it slipped and fired on its own. I tried two more times and it did it again.
I then took the thing that holds it and pulled it up a bit to hold the string. The bow is functioning fine now, but I'm wondering if any damage could be done, I've shot it two or three times since this.
But would it be okay to take it hunting with me this evening?

check it for any cracks in the limbs (I think that is what they are called on a cross bow). If everything looks ok and it is shooting the same as it did before you should be ok.
