Ok, I just responded to the "most embarassing moment" thread, and thought I'd start one, where we could possibly redeem ourselves.

I've made some good shots on deer, though none spectacular with a bow. One time I was hunting with two others, and we had a motorhome we had parked back in the woods. I was the last to get back to "camp" and as I walked into the area, a ruffed grouse flew into an apple tree, 20 yds away. Just then, the two other hunters came out of the camper and both asked "how'd you do?" I still had my bow in my hand, and signaled them to be quite. I took the oldest arrow out of the quiver, drew and released into the middle of the apple tree, and made a perfect shot on the bird. In a puff of feathers it fell to the ground.

Mind you, I'm not a "great shot" but had a very clear shot at the bird, and was very comfortable with the shot. We had fresh grouse with lunch. Still, these guys talk it up every year about that shot, they tell it like I'm Robin Hood or something, which of course I'm not.

Hunting, threading a needle on a Mulie Buck last, through a small window. 32 yards Double lung, complete pass through, went maybe 50 yards and piled up into a tree stump. Wow what a whack that arrow made, I can still hear...oh not to mention the buck impaling himself on the stump...yeke!!!

My best shot to date though was planting one on the wifes nose & forehead...must been clear accross the room....OKAY that is just plain bad! Sorry guys!

My best shot(or luckiest shot) is a toss up between the time I shot a quail out of the air with flu flu arrows and a recurve or the time I shot a needle nose gar that was only 11" long and wasn't no bigger than 3/4" in diameter. The arrow head actually hit the gar sideways and this allowed the head to go thru without cutting it in half.

Best shot.....35yrds. Broadside. Right behind the shoulder, clipped both lungs and clipped the side of the heart. The old doe ran about 75yrds and piled up under a oak tree. She kicked for about 10seconds and it was over.

Luckest shot....first deer I ever shot with a bow. 30yrds, broadside. The 3year old doe trotted away from me down a trail with thick brush on both sides of her. She gets to the end of the trail, turns broadside and steps back into the trial. With treestand still on my back, I nail her in the shoulder with my old PSE Spirit. She ran 20yrds and fell over the bank and slide to the next flat.

Both were great shots. And I thats' why I enjoy bowhunting.

I know it isn't a bow shot but I shot a bumble bee out of the air at about 8 feet with a .22
We were all standing around telling lies about what great shots we are and I seen the bee. I told them I would just end the argument once and for all.
The lead must have just nicked it as it fell straight down when I shot. I blew the smoke off the barrel and refused to shoot anymore because "I proved who was the best shot" I wouldn't tell them but I could shoot another 100,000 shots and never be able to do it again!!

I'd have to say my 1st deer with a bow. 28 yds, qtr away, and left a nice 3-blade cut thru the center of the heart. Then there was this time "my friend" (lol) shot a pigeon out of the hangar roof. There wasn't any aircraft in there to poke a hole in. Luckiest shot was a 42 yd doe. It was a good shot but she moved her head. The arrow went between her eyes and partially out the back of her head. She fell over dead. No kick, no twitch. Just dead.

My best hunting shot was a four point half rack I shot at 30yds. There was hardly enough light left. I looked through my peep and everything was dark. Could bearly see white on the deer, and I chose to shoot at what looked liked the vitals. I shot and heard the thump and the deer ran 30yds and fell under my buddys treestand. All the practicing I did in low light conditions paid off.

But probably the best shot I made was about 33yds. Squirrel season was in and also deer. I had a buck walking right towards my stand. Getting closer and closer he was about 20yds when all of the sudden two dogs (beagles) came off the hillside and chased him away. After that a fox squirrel was gathering nuts about 33yds away. I decide to try my shot on him. I stuck him with my 100 grain rockets at 33yds right behind the front shoulder. Lucky for the buck who got chased away by dogs.

MY BEST SHOT WELL THATS EASY IT WAS LAST NIGHT. WE WERE SHOOTING(PRACTICING) FOR DOLLARS. THE TARGET A TENNIS BALL AT 25 YDS. MY BROTHER SHOT AND WHAM RIGHT THROUGH THE CENTER OF THE BALL. WELL I DID NOT KNOW HOW TO BEAT THAT SHOT AND DID NOT WANT TO LOSE A DOLLAR. SO HERES THE SHOT. I AIMED RIGHT AT HIS WHITE NOCK, HELD HER STEADY AND CLOSED MY EYES AND RELEASED. WHAM SPLIT HIS NOCK AND WENT THROUGH THE BALL RIGHT NEXT TO HIS ARROW. I WON THE SHOT FOR A DOLLAR BUT HAD TO GIVE HIM .50 FOR THE NOCK. OH WELL.
