I just got a new bow. I am a beginner, So I do not Know much about bow hunting. I have fired around 50 arrows out of it but every time I release an arrow directly aimed at the target, without sights, It jumps high and to the left of the target... PLEASE any information on this problem would be greatly appriciated. THANKS FOR THE HELP!!!

You don't need no stinkin' sights! If you want to shoot without sights (my favorite way, especially now that my eyes are so bad I can't see sight pins anyway), I highly recommend getting a copy of Byron Ferguson's book "Become the Arrow". It's slanted toward traditional bows but the aiming method he teaches works even better for the compound. In fact, are you using a recurve or longbow or a compound?

Right now there are so many things that can be causing your problem that it's impossible to diagnose it over the net. Your bow may not be tuned properly. You may not be establishing a good anchor directly under your master eye. You don't say whether you are shooting with your fingers or mechanical release but, if fingers, you might not have the correct type of arrow rest on the bow. If fingers, you might have a problem with your release technique. You might not have the correct arrows for the bow.

How about listing all the particulars about your bow and arrows. What kind of bow? What draw weight and what draw length? How long are your arrows and what brand and size are they? Do you shoot fingers or do you use a release? What kind of rest is on the bow?

That's enough to get us to square one.

Taking your stuff to an archery shop and asking them for help might be your best option at this point.

the bow shop should be able to help you with your draw length.I'd second
get sights and a release.The shop should assist with your shot technique

Center fire I will do it with you. I posted a thread about a week or so ago about being bored with my compound. My customer sugested I loose my sights. I'm going to do just that. I will loose my sights this week and figure it out. I will be buying the book. I need the challenge.

Centerfire........guess what? If you are shooting without sights and EVERY shot is going high and left for you?........your doing something CONSISTANT, and consistant is good!

Many of us learned without sights, and know some darn fine compound shooters who shoot instinctively......that has never left me as I learned that way and can honestly strip off my sights and be doing pretty well within minutes.
I learned alot about the basics of archery without sights that carried over into the days when I started competing etc.

Get up close and figure out where you need to hold and aim and think about each shot and trying to do things the same each time and you'll start to see those arrows heading for the center.

Aim lower and to the right.

or move your target, one or the other.

when i shoot my recurve. i tend too shoot high.so instead of holding the string with 2 fingers below and 1 finger on top of the arrow. i just use 2 fingers below the arrow. that worked for me on my recurve. dont know if it will help on your compound though.and i am only shooting 55lb on my recurve.
