I gotcha Centerfire. Your biggest problem is the rest.



The Monarch is a launcher rest. Even worse, it's the lizard tongue type. It's made strictly for shooting with a mechanical release.

When shooting with fingers, the arrow flexes side to side during the launch. We call it 'archers paradox'. Fingers shooters need a rest that gives lateral support to the arrow. Without that support the arrow will not launch straight toward where you're aiming.

One of the very best fingers shooting rests is the old reliable springie. This one is mounted on a cushion plunger to give a lot of adjustability to how much side resistance you give the arrow. Costs about $12. (Best used with feather fletched arrows though...)



Another of my favorites is the Cavalier FreeFlyte Micro. This is the one I've got on my compound. Centershot is micro adjustable. It costs around $36.

Once you replace that rest with something compatible to shooting with fingers, you'll be in a lot better shape.

Yes, My monarch arrow rest is the exact same model in your picture, but the exact part that the shaft rests on looks more like this:

I wondered if they offered that rest with prongs too. But for your purposes, it doesn't make any difference. Even with the prongs instead of the lizard tongue, it's still a dedicated release rest. You really, REALLY need a rest designed for fingers shooting. Another decent rest that won't force you to take out a mortgage to get one is the NAP Centerest Flipper. And the centershot will also have to be adjusted differently for shooting fingers. Rather than having the arrow perfectly centered with the string, like I'm sure they did when they tuned the bow for that rest, the centershot will need to adjusted out a bit, so that when you eyeball the string centered in the track of the cams, you can see the tip of the arrow riding outside the string. Like it shows in this illustration:



Just how far the arrow will need to be set outboard will depend on arrow spine and how clean your release is.

Just curious... When you bought that setup, did you tell the guy at the shop you intended to shoot fingers?

If you get a release then that rest will probably work fine. I say 'probably' because I've never heard of that maker before and know absolutely nothing about their products. If it's a decent quality rest then you'll be good to go.

I'm saying I'm very familiar with that TYPE of rest, just not the relative quality of that particular manufacturer's products. Sometimes certain brands don't function as reliably as others. Maybe someone else on the forum does know about Monarch rests and can give you the real lowdown on them.
