Whats a good way to have your bow at the ready using a stand, i'm using a Summit climber and i'm kind of interested in getting one one those bow holders that fix to the outside of the platform instead of having to reach back for your bow on a hanger.??
which of the two would work best??

I usually use a tri-fold EZ-Hanger. I screw it in to the tree above and to the left ( I'm right handed ) of my sitting position, and the bow hangs perfect for me to get to quietly if a deer is approaching. It also folds back out of the way if I have to stand up to make a shot.

I use a holder that attaches to the outside of the stand with two rubber coated prongs that you slide the bottom limb in. I like it but it takes some practice to get you bow out of easily.

I use a few of these and find they work very well. GC 5000 Bow Holder, this one bolts to the platform of the stand.

My personal preference is to use the bow holders attached to the end of your arms
.
Keep that bow in hand and ready to go. Most of the time grabbing your bow isn't an issue but Mr. Murphy is just waiting for an opportunity to spoil a close encounter with a big buck.

I use the screw in bow holder purchased from walmart. Climb up in my summit viper, after all secure with the harness, I pull out the holder and screw it in above my head while standing. After a couple times, I pretty much know where to start it so that it is vey easily to grab while sitting down or standing up. You can also fold it back to move it out of the way if needed as well. I would like to try one that mounts on my climber, but to cheap to buy another one.

Switch to an Oneida. The lower limb slips comfortably in your front pocket at the ready and in the side leg pocket at the rest or almost ready.

Yup! And the curved outboard will rest comfortably on your thigh, and if the let off is high enough, you can literally hold the bow drawn by pushing down on the bow while the outboard is on your leg.

I use a Balcolm sling, that way I can keep my bow on my lap but have my hands free and not have to worry about the bow falling. My hands don't get cold holding the bow or tired. It is very easy to unhook, less than a second, fully closed, quicker if it's open. If you stand up and have a long wait coming, let the sling hold it. gotta long walk to stand, let the sling hold it. Best 20 dollars i ever spent
