Default Am I the only one left......

who actually enjoys a good long hard drag out of the woods? I was just reading a thread over in deerhunting asking how they retrieve their game.

So, am I the only one left who likes to take him by the horns and tuff it out?

The drag out is one of my favorite parts of the hunt. I look forward to it not shun the idea of it

Yes, I think so.

The very first drag taught me a good lesson to hunt near where I can get my vehicle close. Never ever shoot a deer at the bottom of a ravene (sp). It's ok to shoot at the top of a hill but not at the bottom. If you absolutly have to, shoot bambi first.

I like to use my brain instead of my back. If I could figure out how to shoot one and it fall in the bed of my pick up I would. Where I hunt you can usually drive right up to the downed deer any way.

The last deer I took was 400' from the house up in a gnarly old popular tree. It ran about another 300' to the road and piled up right next to it. I came home, got the kids and drove the truck almost right to it. That's my kind of dragin.

No shame in my game ,
I'm an out-of-shape , middle aged fatboy . I have a shoulder drag rig , but I'm not too proud to con somebody else into dragging it out for me . Tom Sawyer is one of my heroes ... j/k

(I really do have the shoulder drag though .)

I'm not in bad shape for a fourty something year old,and to drag a deer out that weighs as much as I do (300) it gets tough. So I use my cart.I don't hunt to close to my truck either.
