Hey Big Ten, just some advice on using the Forum here. Questions of this nature should be posted under the regional section. You'll get a better response there, and find more information. There's been alot of discussions about NY under the Northeast regional forum. That may help you. The bowhunting in NY is good. Some DMU's hold better populations of deer then others. I can't compare it to Mass, as I've never hunted there.

RE: new york hunting
I'm in Chautauqua county and this year was a little tough, no snow, but as for deer it's nothing to see 10-12 deer a night or more as for mature bucks they are on their own page of music and come around when they want to. But as for growing them western NY seem to me anyway the place to hunt them. If it's a little far to drive believe it or not westchester county towards NYC has excellent bowhunting areas. The adrondacks region has monsters and starts earlier but is much harder to navigate the deer with out help from locals.
