Recently i purchased a Jo Jan mono Fletcher and AAE vanes. The first batch of arrows I fletched were beautiful. You could not pull them off with a tow truck. Now I just tried to do some for a guy and the vanes will not stick at all (they seem to stick only on the ends and the middle of the fletch is not seating well at all)
The process i use is :
1. Scrape all the old glue/fletching off (REALLY WELL)
2. Take a piece of scotch bright to it rough it up
3. USe denatured alchohol to clean the arrow shaft
4. wipe that clean
5. Then glue and put on the fletches
I thought maybe that his arrows are fatter than mine maybe that had something to do with it, so i went back and refletched one of mine and I am now having the same problem with mine now?????????????
the fletcher seems to be making good contact with the vane to push it onto the shaft also?? i DONT KNOW WHAT THE HECK IS UP.. i REFLETCHED HIS 3 TIMES ALREADY AND STILL NO GO.
HELP!!!

Try wiping the bottom of the vane with denatured alcohol. I've had problems in the past with mold release(oil) on the vanes. Also, Fastset GEL has worked the best for me as far as glue goes.
Good luck!

You shouldn't use anything on the base of the AAE vanes as they have an activator on them for fastset glue (super glue). I don't use alcohol on my shafts, if they need cleaned I use plain white vinegar.
I use the Bohning Fletch Tite II gel and it works well with AAE vanes. If the shafts are different diameter you need to adjust the clamp on the fletching jig, but if you did that guess I can't help.

I also make all of my arrows up myself. I have been doing it for the past 17 years since I first strarted to bowhunt. Over the years I found that if you are glueing vanes on carbons regular fletchtite does not stick at all for me. I use Fsatset Gel like Jason said and that works well for me. I use nothing but fletchtite on my aluminum shafts & never have a problem with that.
