Default The best rest

I am new to this board and sight but what I have seen so far is great. I have been bowhunting for 7 yrs now and is the only type of hunting I love.
I have just bought a Bodoodle bullet rest for my Matthews M-Q32. I love the accuracy and simplicity of the rest but have found that the arrow has a tendacy to bounce and fall of the rest. My question is what is a good rest that is accurate, durable and easy to tune. Have thought of some drop aways (MZE, NAP 2000 ect) But really like the simplicity of a stationary rest. Any suggestions would be great thanks.

Hi mossymike,
Welcome to the board!
I currently have a MZE on my MQ1, (love it!), but I used to have a Bodoodle Superdoodle. They are really great rest. The arrow shouldn't be "bouncing" off the rest. Make sure that the fins are opened enough. The two fins should contact the arrow the same way two of your vanes do, 60 degrees apart. Don't get too technical, just eyeball.
I hope you enjoy visiting the boards. There are a lot of great hunters and shooters here with some great advice. Good luck with your setup and the upcoming season!

MM,

I was skeptical before I purchased the MZE rest because of all the linkages and moving parts on this rest. This thing actually looked complicated. I've had this rest for about a month now and I am glad that I purchased it. Looking at this particular rest, I initially worried about all of the moving parts but after very little use (and alot of replies from fellow hunters here) I can honestly say that, in fact, this rest is pretty simple and maintenance free. No tuning necessary, all the arrows comes off true from the rest, no noise what-so-ever, and no evident wear on any of the moving parts. Also, no possibility of arrows jumping off the rest, every draw of the bow holds the arrow in perfect alignment for the shot, from every angle. There is no need for an arrow holder, since it is built into the arrow rest itself. No wobbles from arrows leaving the bow going to the target. 100% of total vane clearance every time. No worries of vane alignment.

I've been hunting with compounds since they first became legal in the 80's. I've tried nemerous arrow rests: from various prong type rests, flipper rests, to a few of the shoot-tru rests. Speaking from very little experience about the MZE arrow rest, this looks like a very good investment. Hope this helps a little but whichever you decide to go with, I hope it works out well for ya.

I use an original WHISKER BISCUIT on my Oneida Strike Eagle bow, and haven't any problems out of it. Although i do like the look of the Muzzy Zero- Effect rest, but don't how well it performs.

I would take a look at the Golden Key Mirage. It's a nice little rest that is very forgiving in hunting conditions.

If it's a fall away you're looking for than I would take a serious look at the GK Mirage. This quiet, lghtweight all metal rest has been nothing but awesome for me. The one rest I own that I feel truly has improved my shooting by tightening up my long range groups. It's also very reasonably priced. Check it out.

If it's a top quality prong style rest that you desire then again look no farther than the GK line-up. The premier series rests are lengendary for their rugged dependabilty and tournament proven results. Excellent micro adjustments and patents galore, these rests have set the standard by which all others are compared. So it doesn't matter if you choose the Platinium, the Golden or the Infinty, you'll have an outstanding rest that will provide years of dependable service both on the range and in the field. Just ask how many people on this site have shot the same GK rest for 5, 7, even 10+ years. GKF really is "the arrow rest specialists".

If your arrow is bouncing off your rest, you need to either clean your cable guard, change out your cable slide for a new, low friction model or reduce your draw weight. It's not the rest that's causing it. Your arrow will bounce on any rest. Well, except maybe a Whisker Buiskit.

By the way, welcome aboard!

I have a NAP 2000 drop away and it is working pretty darn good. I did have a Whisker Biscuit, but every week I had to replace the flethings on it because it was ripping them off!

I shoot fingers and don't shoot a drop away but I've heard good things about the NAP 2000 and 4000 drop aways.
